Stillman Posted April 10, 2013 Don't really know if there is much access to these plants but I am interested ion growing some Rice particularly the Golden Rice cultivar. Any ideas advice etc?
shortly Posted April 10, 2013 Golden Rice is a GMO, i'm not sure who owns the patent? I'm assuming you only want small quantities of seed? There are a few small seed merchants that will supply backyard quantities, they tend to only have low yield heirloom varieties. I should be able to hook you up with a black strain & possibly a pink, not sure how much she charges but i can ask.
CβL Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Black rice! Apparently it's the bomb, and was only allowed to be eaten by Asian royalty. Please cook this advice with a grain of salt, for 3 hours. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_rice In ancient China, black rice was considered the finest grain and only served to the Emperor. Therefore, it sometimes is called “forbidden rice,” as it was off limits for the general public[citation needed]. Edited April 10, 2013 by CβL
Stillman Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Sounds good guys yep I'd be keen to grow any varieties. Shortly that would be great if you could ask for me. Golden rice is vary interesting I am currently studying about it, as far as I am aware know one owns the patent it, being developed and given away to various regions of rice dependent Asia to combat vitamin A deficiencies. Which is pretty amazing. http://www.goldenrice.org/ and this http://www.goldenrice.org/Content1-Who/who4_IP.php Edited April 10, 2013 by Stillman
