No flowers as of yet mate, this one has me stumped :scratchhead:.

I have asked on another forum & got three different answers, Haageocereus, Mammillaria & Cochemiea halei. It seems that Haageocereus has as few contenders that look similar. Can you rule out any of the ones mentioned above? Or am I going to have to wait for a flower?

Cheers

I know no Haageocereus that has hooks. Cochemia Halei is now Mammillaria Halei but i think it has no hooks either. But i think its going into that direction. Halei is VERY close so its definately closely related to it. Maybe its a variety from Halei or a very close species. Will check my books but i guess under current taxonomy, this would be a Mammillaria. An Escobaria would also be possible as they are related. Good thing is they flower easily.

Thanks EG, I don't know how I keep getting different information than you but everything I read about Cochemiea halei say it used to be called Mammillaria halei & is now Cochemiea . Anyway I would be stocked if you could find any more info on this one

Well yeah, some english still taxonomists treat it as Cochemiea but most german taxonomists placed it under Mammillaria. Flower looks definately diffrent but they are related so i can see what they were thinking. No matter what, it should flower soon and then we´ll know.
