No War - says Brisbane Lord Mayor

Recommended Posts

This is funny and is getting him into lots of hot water. talkback is frantic and even 'a current affair' had a go at this.

Bush IS an idiot and more people need to understand that. Jim's views might be unpopular with arrogant talkshow hosts and our oh so respected prime minister, but we can take comfort in the knowledge that they are unlikely to be Nobel Prize candidates or in any other way recognised for their foresight and compassion.

Archbishop Tutu is a man of true compassion and fairness and has plenty of criticism of bush and his war on Iraq. He also has the conviction to take his protest directly to new york this week:

"We are concerned about the humanity of those who calmly can order that kind of devastation".

Nelson Mandela is a person of true leadership and respect and I just happen to share his views on Bush:

"What I am condemming is that one power, with a president who has no foresight, who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust".

all the pointers are in place. stock market nose dive, blossoming unemployment, diminishing oil reserves, mad dictator, countries in severe disagreement(how good was the dressing down of rumpole by the german foreign minister?). at other points in history when these factors came into play the world was plunged into war, what a surprise that dubyas grandad had a hand in that one as well. america is ruined without this aggression, it must have the oil. there has been a massive investment in the deployment of troops, it has to be paid for.

nice to see such high profile disagreement with nero er dubya, dustin hoffman spoke out against him recently as well. even the normally compliant american pollies are starting to ask about dubyas policy for occupying iraq beyond this war, answers are in short supply.
