Zen Peddler Posted January 24, 2013 I thought Id post seperately just in case people might have missed this. I heard from a local mushroom hunter that we had 'black or winter chanterelles' in Australia. I was trying to work out if this was possible or what he was talking about. Turns out he meant Craterellus cornucopioides also know as the horn of plenty. then I found pics on Blueswami's page of several collections of this most amazing tasting mushroom. Was also surprised that people collect and eat Orange peel fungus and jew ears in Australia as well... Any one had any sightings, experiences, hear say? altenate Posted January 24, 2013 Often find Jews ears in the Blue Mountains in the cooler seasons. Tend to grow around our chook pen & finding them on Liquid Amber & a ficus logs...Even found them growing on some bricks... Great tasting, esp in Asian style foods.... Think I have a few prints floating around... Interested in the Orange Peel fungus as it grows close by as well .Hadn't heard of people eating that one. Also shall look out for horn of plenty. They sound good. Taste reminiscent of Truffles - sounds good!!
