Hey all,

been a bit between updates but I put (after 3 flushes) the kit out into the garden under a bit of straw and manure, and got my first three spring up yesterday :wub: happy as!!

Awesome news! I'll have to add that to the instructions.

Did you break up the straw at all or just bury it whole?

I broke it in half, crumbled half over a layer of straw and well dried horse manure,covered that with a thin layer of soil then crumbled the other half over the top of that, covered with straw and kept moist.

Nice easy tek right there! The last bit on keeping it moist is were most people fall short. I wonder how far you can stretch the mycelium. As long as it has ample food and is kept moist enough it should keep on growing.

just checked out your ebay site can you recommend what native trees that could be used with the dowel i have heaps of chinese elms would they work

Just had a little wiki search for the chinese elms.

They're in the same family so I'd be pretty surprised if they weren't decent for mushroom cultivation.

Haven't had any hands on experience with them so I can't be 100%....

anyone else want to chime in?
