Halcyon Daze Posted May 25, 2012 While I'm waiting around for the political crisis in PNG to resolve, I''ve become involved in a genetic study on Sarcochilus hartmanii. Any orchid buffs will know this one quite well. We need to locate a few wild populations, preferably widely separated, so we can take some observations and maybe a tiny sample of a root tip. (with permits of course). We're pretty much fine for populations in S/E QLD but if anyone knows of populations in Northern NSW (preferably not too hard to access) please let me know. This study is for long term consevation obviously and the highest standards are maintained. We've done this all before with a different species of Sarcochilus. So in conclusion, if you have any info regarding the whereabouts of this species give us a yell (qualia I'm lookin' at you). CHEERS!
tarenna Posted May 26, 2012 Wow - sounds like fascinating work. Western end of Nightcap Range (Blue Knob - The Sphinx) and Wollumbin are good places to start. Good luck
