gneumatics Posted April 17, 2012 So Ive heard that getting the soil level right when repotting plants is quite important. The issue is that I am quite new to plant care and have just received my new p.viridis plants bare-rooted. My question is how do I know the optimum level to fill will soil? I have taken a guess so far and have leveled the soil off at the place where the plant either changes colour on the stem from white to green (younger plants) or brownish to green (older plants). Have I done the right thing here? ... G
Sallubrious Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) It sounds like you're on the right track, you've made a few observations and it sounds like you've identified the right level to plant them. If there are no exposed roots and the soil isn't much deeper than the different coloured part of the stem you'll be OK. It's not rocket science. gneumatics Posted April 17, 2012 Excellent news. Good to know I won't have to risk damaging the little guys by re-potting ... G
woof woof woof Posted April 20, 2012 psychotria is a very forgiving plant. even if you bury it completely,..new growth will pop up from underneath the soil (if it isnt to deep) If you dont bury it enough,... new roots will form where it meets the ground. One thing to keep in m ind with psychotria is to keep them in a humid environment to keep them happy.
