0 planthelper Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) i tried to take a pic of the underneath, but it turned out crap. i've never seen anything like it in my area, so i didn't do a spore print. thx myco! Edited March 1, 2012 by planthelper
0 Trayto Posted March 1, 2012 this looks like a boletus i found once....are there gills ore pores underneath?
0 domeboy Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) this looks like a boletus i found once....are there gills ore pores underneath? Probably from Boletales. From that pic, my best bet would be Boletellus emodensis. There are a few Boletellus sp. that look similar though. If you can, send me the spores and I will try and narrow it down futher. Also a photo of the pores and any staining that happens to it would be helpful. Edit: Also was it found in Eucalypt leaf litter? Also could be Gymnopilus dilepsis after some research. 0 Trayto Posted March 1, 2012 What domeboy said....if it stains deeeeeeep blue it's def Boleteus of some sort. Back I the day I did some research on it, turns out it was edible. Not saying that this one is though!!!
0 TheExplorer Posted March 1, 2012 I'm going with Boletellus ananaeceps/Boletellus ananas/Boletellus emodensis.
0 planthelper Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) next time i know what to do now and i will, take pollen and try a spore print without damage to the shroom. yes it's eucalyptus litter substrate, and i think (not sure though) it had gills. i tend towards boletellus sp. domboy, i like your correct display of latin names!!
