Jonstn Posted February 21, 2012 Just noticed on the back of a rebootyourlife spicy lemonade juice that NT can get refunds on their cans, like SA. So I hit up wiki and found this The Northern Territory introduced a container deposit scheme similar to South Australia's from January 3rd, 2012.[5] 2 down 5 to go Apparently vic had this initiative, but canned it

chnt Posted February 21, 2012 WA used to have it, it ended like 10-15 years ago from memory
Distracted Posted February 21, 2012 Coke fought really hard to stop this from coming through. Now NT can join SA as the top bottle/can recyclers of Australia
chnt Posted February 21, 2012 what do coke have against this? there must be a legitimate concern if coke are against it, i may have to start littering more, if that's what coke thinks is best

Jonstn Posted February 22, 2012 How does the 10c affect coke? That's just annoying lol if it bothers them so much couldn't they just bang 10c ontop of everything? It's not like we all recycle for the 10c anyway most of the time my cans and bottles just go in the normal recycling bin, the homeless are the ones that get the most use out of it. Maybe coke has a thing against homeless people?
Distracted Posted February 22, 2012 coke owns the contract for curbside recycling. This will compete against their recycling. btw every can/bottle in NT now costs 20c extra now i think... 10c for the deposit, 10c for handling. SA has it cheaper, i beleive their handling levy(or excise, i dunno) is only 15c sorry i can't be bothered finding links to verify amounts... use this post as a stepping stone to find the information yourself
