Ambient Posted January 17, 2012 this is just a theory, but i think the plant spends most of its energy developing it's root system until it reaches the borders of its containment pot and once that happens then it directs the bulk of its energy into new growth. Cool, this is what I was presuming, but I wasn't sure, it makes sense though. Being a "standard" L. Williamsii do they just grow one main head? Chef no, they will pup eventually, just depends on how well established they are / growing conditions etc (they can take allot longer than Caespitosa though (sometimes years longer)). Caespitosa characteristically throws more pups than the standard form, but a grafted L. Williamsii will throw plenty with its abundance of nutrients supplied by a faster growing root stock.
