hey guys i was pottering through my mums garden the other day and this caught my eye, she had no idea what it is and said it was never planted..

i think its a salvia, its stem is square and didnt seem to have much fragrance or leaf taste at all..

Looks more like coleus, mine is flowering at the moment.

Thanks hefa, I am unfamiliar with this plant but I think your right on the money. I have read reports of coleus being used medicinally but they are very few and far between

Yeah the flowers can be deceptive, as they are EXTREMELY alike to salvia, esp divi.

I wouldnt get into the coleus activity debate anytime soon but there are a lot of opinions out there. Most of them pointing out it's beautiful foliage :D Honestly though, they are a beautiful plant though and are geat in or out of the home.

Find a colour variation you like and propagate it with cuttings all over your world.

Yeah I agree, they're definately beautiful plants. I will be saving some seed of this, keen to add it to my collection. It has some awesome purple specs through the leaves too.

A type of Lamium maculatum would be my guess, but your leaves seem a bit too pointy, and the stems a little darker.

It flowered this week and turned out purple so most definatly a coleus bluemi
