sclaws Posted June 8, 2011 Greetings? I am confused- I grafted a seedling onto a san pedro a couple of years back and then last summer it produced a weird growth. Ok, so its a lophophora williamsii grafted onto san pedro. First the odd green shoot off the side and then the purple button. It's not sunburn and has root tips shooting off it. Red pup is approx 1cm. Any ideas anyone? One possibility- I sometimes graft coloured or variegated lophs- could it be a purple loph? All opinions welcome. Teotzlcoatl Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) Finally a "San Pedro" X "Peyote" chimera? I knew it'd happen one day. Try to keep the mutated section alive using all possible means. Close one thread... Edited June 9, 2011 by Teotzlcoatl
weedRampage Posted June 12, 2011 fingers crossed for chimera other possible reasons are just straight monstrose / cristate growth The purple colouration is a general syndrome in plants for low phosphorous, which can be the result of a high pH soil mix. Strange that it is isolated to one pup though. I have some weird grafts I should post pics of. One very ugly monstrose loph on t. bridgesii One loph pupping out the middle of a new pup.
