woof woof woof Posted June 28, 2005 wash away dirt from roots carefully. wrap in wet spaganum moss. put in plastic ziplock baggie wrap it around the rest of the plant. tape it up so it stays compact. put in envelope or small box. ship!
Benzito Posted June 28, 2005 It seems to help to wrap some slightly damp newspaper around the plant and sphagnum moss, before putting the plant in a plastic bag. Leaves that sit against moist plastic seem to get quite damaged and wilted. Just my two cents.
friendly Posted June 28, 2005 Using a large enough ziploc to encompass the whole plant safely, sealing the ziploc most of the way and blowing it up like a balloon before sealing it the rest of the way gives the plant some carbon dioxide to live on during the trip and protects the plant a little better as well, by keeping the sides of the bag farther away from the foliage.
