tripsis Posted March 3, 2011 Having a peek at some of my seedlings this morning, I noticed I've got a tricotyledonous Trichocereus peruvianus seedling. Not sure what, if anything, this will mean for the mature plant (assuming it gets there), but I thought it quite remarkable. Anyone seen similar or know if this will affect the mature plant in any way?
PD. Posted March 3, 2011 I have seen that quiet often in seedlings, nothing has ever come from them that i recall other than normal seedlings. Then again, usually with the amount of seedlings i have going at any given time i generally dont keep track of individuals but from the ratio of the amount of times ive seen it to the amount of mutations one gets from batches of trich seed it is safe to say it will turn out normal. Keep an eye on it though id love to be proved wrong thats for sure!
Hellonasty Posted March 3, 2011 I have had this with Caput-medusae where you can get 3 or even 4 cotyledons, I haven't noticed any difference in the plants growth or form unfortunately. Never had it happen with Trichocereus so who knows.
tripsis Posted March 3, 2011 Ah damn, that's a shame. Interesting nevertheless.
