shortly Posted December 23, 2010 Has anyone used a rocket stove for long term use? I have been using my little one on & off for boiling the kettle & heating the odd pot of what ever & even my 5L PC with moderate success. But i haven't tried using it for sustained cooking, like the 90 min need to PC grain. I've decided that its time to scale up to a rocket stove big enough to accommodate my large PC. But i'm a little concerned that with regular use the sustained burn directly on the base of the PC is going to damage the PC's base? Am i better off putting a metal plate on the top of the stove & venting the hot gases to the back of the stove with a small chimney, or would that reduce the stoves efficiency significantly? Any suggestions?
paradox Posted December 23, 2010 i dunno, but i remember a thread about these.. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21924&st=0&p=226664&hl=+rocket%20+stove&fromsearch=1entry226664
dworx Posted December 23, 2010 It should be right they recommend 12mm venting so you could put the plate in but you need to vent the heat towards the plate then and the heat would transfer by induction to your PC. The venting has to be directed to the to the pot or plate don't vent it away as the heat will not be where you want...Hope that makes sense..
