Aye it was. This winter was very mild, and the one before that very harsh.

During the harsh winter this little tree would have been either at Solomon's house or at the nursery (in the north island if i recall correctly) where he got it from.

Do you think i should make a habit of keeping it indoors over winter?

big trees in the botanical garden here so I don't think you should worry too much but I would still bring them in if there was a bad frost.

Their natural range is the North Island and the top of the South Island if i recall correctly.

The nursery they are from is in Northland.

Nice, i'll treat it the same as my bonsai then.

My other half scored a big one from ribbonwood, hence why i got the one from you as a hand-me-down.

yes, I would make an 'emergency habit' indoors for very cold days in winter...
