Ed Dunkel Posted March 1, 2003 Not particularly Entheogenic but mildly ethnobotanic. I'm interested in starting a cold hardy exotics garden and am looking for the following seeds: Chamaerops humilis Phoenix theophratis Rhapidophyllum hystrix Trachycarpus takil, latisectus or fortunei Cycas panzihuaensis Cycas revoluta Macrozamia communis Musa basjoo Musa hookerii (syn. sikkimensis) Musa Yunnan Anyone got some spare for a trade? mulch Posted March 3, 2003 Musa spp. = Bananas no?? if so i would love any of these too... small Macrozamia are about $10 @ any nursery... (u might not live long enough to see them get to a decent size if u start them from seed)
Ed Dunkel Posted March 4, 2003 Musa = banana si!! These ones can handle cold freezes, People grow these ones in the Netherlands, Belgium, England, France where it it regularly freezes down to -10ºC over a couple of weeks in winter. I'm trying to set up a garden in France and will be collecting seeds to send there. Macrozamia's are easy to get in NSW maybe but here in Vic they seem harder. I even went to check an australia native nursery for them. They do grow quite fast, people expect cycads to grow slowly but some grow quite rapidly. Maybe watching them get a stem could take a while!!
