Juuls x T Pan. Seed pod Burst

Howdy, it's been awhile

As some of you may remember, I was working on trying to get some controlled crosses.

Well, I finally got the Juuls Giant and the T. Pachanoi to flower

and sync with one another close enough for the pollen to be viable for crossings

It only took half a decade to get both clones to bear fruit and take each others pollen.

Here's a image of a seed pod bursting the day before a rainstorm hit

How they can have mature fruits for months and sync it up is a nice question

But it seems clear that it's intended to have the seeds wash out and settle in a nice germination spot.

(the pulp loses it's structure quickly with water and slight agitation)

I haven't seen anyone else ever show the fruit bursting like that

usually people are harvesting them and cutting them up to get at the seeds

I wanted to let it run a full cycle and let me know when she's ready to deliver. ;)

I'm working on a side project to develop something nice via controlled crossings

I figure I've got 15 more years of playing around with these before getting some nice results.

Left on long enough, any seed pod will eventually split.

I've seen it numerous times on various cacti, its mother nature doing her job.

I think that the gist of my point was that yes they do split

There's not many images of them doing so on the web that I've seen

and lastly

It does seemed to be timed by bursting a day before rainfall

I'm getting a nice trend here for those fruits that hold on and take their time.

Love the pic, the shooting flower has lots of character, that's the juuls i'm guessing, flower seems more robust than the standard pach, very nice.

Am sure you're aware, but don't delay too long in harvest, the ants will do a number on them, try and raise a trich army in their sugar caves

Thanks for sharing the rain observation, it's interesting how life syncs with rain, often heard it about animals and birth, and dumbo finally dropped at the state zoo the other day before a good spot of rain.

I'm really happy about the fruits I've gotten this year

some of the sprites from 2 years ago

and developing a nice spiral growth pattern

Haven't seen that before

we'll see what happens with time if it's a mature trait.
