Undercover police storm Sydney cafe

Recommended Posts

Staff say police stormed a busy cafe through its front windows this morning to arrest two men in Sydney's north.

A chef at the Lavender Blue Cafe, Michael Smith, says there were at least 30 people at the McMahons Point business when three undercover police officers dressed as plumbers aimed guns at the men.

"And then before we knew it, two four-wheel drives pulled out the front and SWAT jumped out and one guy gets dragged out the window by the neck," he said.

"The next guy gets slammed on the ground and you've got SWAT with guns flying everywhere, saying 'everybody freeze'.

"I've never experienced anything like that, like that's the sort of thing you watch in American cop shows. It was unbelievable."

Police have confirmed two men arrested at McMahons Point this morning are being questioned in relation to an investigation.

oh, Daniel is going to love this. He used to work at Lavender Blue. Hilarious. It's a swishy place full of lawyers and coke dealers.... funny how those two professions always appear in the same place.

This is what I'm thinking.

Edit: VVV Whoah. Eight years later? Better late than never I guess. Bet those two thought they'd gotten away with it.

Cafe raid: Men 'plotted prisoner's murder'

Two men arrested in a raid on a Sydney coffee shop have been charged with conspiracy to murder.

Witnesses say about 30 customers were in a busy cafe at McMahons Point when undercover police told them to freeze and pointed guns at the two men.

Moments later, more police crashed through the cafe's front windows.

The two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to murder day release prisoner Terry Falconer in 2001.

Police allege the two men pretended to be detectives in November 2001 and handcuffed Falconer before putting him in a car which appeared to be driven by a uniformed police officer.

His dismembered body was found 10 day later in the Hastings River, near Wauchope, on the state's north coast.

They are are due to face court this afternoon.
