Phalaris ? ID please.

Question

post-4537-1225075892_thumb.jpg This is a picture of phalaris AFAIK , collected from roadside , beside cow paddock with improved pasture . It's from Bateman's Bay area . My local feed store supplies Sirrocco which is what I suspect it may be . The seed pods on this specimen have very fine purple stripes which are not visible to camera. I don't know if this enough to make id . I could photograph plant in roadside context , it is a real monster . It is a deep green similar to cyano-green of oats .

Looks to be P. aquatica ;) Definately Phalaris of some variety, my bet would be aquatica. Your location/environmental data appear to back that up too. From my experience it is easy to pick Phalaris because of the long ribbon-like leaves that tend to be sort of clingy when rubbed along one direction (I think they have teeth-like hairs running in one direction running under the leaves). The seedpods look pretty standard too :)
