spacetrucker Posted October 19, 2008 I recently knocked on a door and had the pleasure of meeting a lovely interesting lady with a passion for cacti. She was happy for a chat and showed me around her property. My eyes were popping out of my head looking at some of the plants growing there. I took a few pics until my camera battery ran out . She told me some of the specimens were planted around 40 years ago. Enjoy... No funny camera angles here, it really does tower above the house:
MindExpansion Posted October 19, 2008 Cool stuff, what is the cacti in the third pic, looks really cool. Peace
M S Smith Posted October 19, 2008 The plant in the fifth picture looks to be a Trichocereus as can only be told by the hydrated limb in the lower foreground. But that isn't what is so spectacular....what is spectacular is the thickness and diameter of the stumpy column on the left...just massive! ~Michael~
spacetrucker Posted October 19, 2008 Cool stuff, what is the cacti in the third pic, looks really cool.Peace I believe its a Cereus Peruvianus Monstrose. It must have been huge judging by the size of some the old stumps.. it was pruned back heavily it seems.

PD. Posted October 20, 2008 what is spectacular is the thickness and diameter of the stumpy column on the left...just massive! That is insane, pic 5 and 6 are the same imo, peruvi, severly dehydrated.
gilligan Posted October 20, 2008 Looks more like a Cleistocactus sp. bit hard to tell though. I think SC was talking about the cactus to the left of the cleisto... The taller one looks four ribbed... Almost scop like, but the tip looks like it may have longish spines, as seen by the fuzziness at the tip? I thought it was some form of trich...
PD. Posted October 20, 2008 that one looks like a stenocereus gilligan, mexican fence post.
spacetrucker Posted October 20, 2008 That is insane, pic 5 and 6 are the same imo, peruvi, severly dehydrated. Yeah, I'm not 100% sure but I think they may actually be the same plant
