apothecary Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Good find. Diterpenes win again? http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=A...1370ed4895f9b5b Salvidorol, a nor-abietane diterpene with a rare carbon skeleton and two abietane diterpene derivatives from Salvia dorrii Ahmed A. Ahmeda, Abou El-Hamd H. Mohamedb, Joe Karchesyc and Yoshinori Asakawad Salvidorol (1), a irregular nor-abietane-type diterpene, was isolated from the aerial parts of Salvia dorrii, in addition to two epimeric abietane diterpenes (2 and 3). This is the first report of a nor-diterpene with an irregular skeleton. The structures were established by high-field NMR techniques (1H–1H COSY, DEPT, HMQC, HMBC, NOESY and HRMS) and in case of 2 was confirmed by X-ray analysis. There appears to be a picture of the molecular structure or something in the link, but it won't open here. My guess is all the info from the ethnobotany section of that wiki link was referenced from reference number 6. Edited January 10, 2008 by Sina
