Phalaris brachystachys

Recommended Posts

Heya all,

Wondering if any peeps have some seeds of this one about in oz. If so would said peeps be willing to share/trade/sell some seeds. Also any experience of said peeps personal gnome, pixie, elf or foaf regarding this one would be warmly welcome :).

Not much on the forum about this one, not sure why :scratchhead: .

I'm not certain, as I haven't checked the list, but it seems like this one would be impossible to import due to it's status as an agricultural weed. If you have a look at ICON and see that it's not listed, that would open up your possibilities to OTAs (other-than-australians.) You won't really need seed for a while anyway as this is a cool season annual. Mine likely won't flower 'til this coming May or June and ya'll are gettin' into summer now ain't ya?

EDIT: Just looked at the ICON database and it is a specifically prohibited species: ICON Phalaris sp. Page

One strange thing; it's odd that P. canariensis is allowed while brachy is not. Canariensis is supposed to be a domesticated variety of brachy, is it not? And their seeds are probably fairly indistinguishable....

Yeah an ICON page came up in the google search for brach. I do have some coming from an overseas source, doubt they will make it through though. See what happens :)
