gamma.goblin Posted August 3, 2007 Just wondering is anyone can advise me of a good(cheap!) material to use for making flexible, potable water tanks. Ive seen soybean oil recommended for canvas, though Id like to know what other options might be available, cheers.

foolsbreath Posted August 20, 2007 LOL yeah GG is after a tank for potable water made out of natural materials by the sound, I don't think he actually wants to drink his water tank! Good options could be an acrylic canvas. You can also get a wide range of pvc coated or backed materials and some other specialty fabrics Check This sit out I looked into this stuff for the old humpy, but in the end just decideed I wouldn't go camping in the rain, getting soft in my old age
gamma.goblin Posted August 21, 2007 Yep youre right foolsbreath, I want to make water tanks Thunder is kinda right in that they will be portable, hence the choice of a non-rigid material. The idea is to have two of them, a hand pump, and a long length of hose. This allows 'leap-frogging' of fairly large amounts of water by one or two people, rather than trekking back and forth with small quantities. The more difficult the terrain, the more usefull is the system.
