summertime in the garden

Recommended Posts

The weather has been great lately and the cacti are really enjoying it.

the graft is a KK339 T.Pach(equador)tip on mature standard T.Pach.

if you pick a stock with the same number of ribs,it fits on nicely

thanks.

I am hoping to get a greenhouse built this year with permanent beds around the perimeter.

I'm gradually selecting the clones I really like, and hope to be able to grow them to full size.

where I live(pacific northwest)a greenhouse is necessary to be able to flower most of them.

i wish I could come up with a design for a greenhouse that is fully removeable during the growing season

because it's very nice having them out in the open under the big blue sky.

Beautiful as always, Osprey.

I'm sure those 339 grafts will soon outpace my seedlings.

Hey Osprey, why would you put the 339 onto the so-called "Backeberg clone"? I would think the 339 a faster growing plant. What's your experience since I only have three small 339 seedlings. And when are you going to create a list of all the different plants in your collection? I'd love to read through it. Anyhow, email or PM me as I got some clippings I should toss your way of a few rarities that I have sitting out in the sun in sections being neglected to the point of dehydration. Got a T. peruvianus "Boyce Thompson" yet?...I didn't think so.

It's an experiment in aggressive propigation.I have other uncut plants as a control group.

I will grow the grafts out and cut them off to root, but leave enough on the stocks to continue to provide pups.

The original beheaded seedlings will produce more pups which will also be grafted onto mature pachanoi plants.

Seedlings just grow very slowly at first, and I am hoping to be able to end up with more plants alot faster than I would be able to normally.I will compare results after 2 years.A science project of sorts.

It could be a good plan to mass produce a particularly desireable seedling quickly

I feel like Dr. Frankenstien grafting an Equadorian head on a Peruvian body

Also I have to think of something to do with all these damn generic pachanoi plants I have

And Michael ,a chance to get some of your plants is something I would Never pass up.

I will get in touch with you when I get back from vacation in a couple weeks
