Ultra-stealth grow

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, this fella I know has a couple of ideas for his first grow... I'll list them here, and please pick them to bits!

The more CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, the better ;)

The main point is that it has to be ultra-stealth... to many unknowns live in the same house, and frequent his room.

He's figured out there is one place in his room that doesn't get touched, and has a bit of space too. His desk has drawers on one side, and a door on the other... the door side is about 60cm high, 30cm wide and a depth of about 30cm aswell - it also has a divider half way up.

He's wondering about using PC accessories, running from the PC, wired up inside the desk... they are:

fans/exhaust - getting rid of the CO2. Have them rigged up to a switch, or one of those fan controllers. also for circulation.

usb lights - do they need light to grow? they grow towards light, correct?

heating pad - to help keep the temperature constant

thermometer - perhaps one of those fan controllers has a thermometer on it...?

Maybe even install a webcam (one of these babies with the LED lights on it!) so he can monitor the growth....

and one of these for protection!

What say you guys?

I'm assuming your growing from cakes so remember that when it comes to fruiting time you'll have to make a fruiting chamber which will have to keep a constant high level of relative humidity. Normally this is done with a moist level of perlite, but i think you might have some troubles with the fruiting stage in a desk draw. Perhaps use one 2 litre bottle as a fruiting chamber for each individual cake, and fill the bottom of each bottle with a layer of moist perlite. More info on this Here

And yes they'll need light to initiate pinning and for something to grow towards.

Hope this helps azz

My gnome also has a slight problem with other occupants. The issue is not so much that he must fully conceal his growing chamber, but it may arouse suspicion from the fellow crocodiles and fish which pass by. Anyway, he has never seen a 'half-pint jar', he wonders what Australian products use half-pint jars which he would find in the supermarket? He assumes it is OK to simply use a jam jar (as long as it is half a pint) and just drill holes in the metal lid?

If your talking about grain then any jar that has a sealable air-tight screw top lid and will fit in your pressure cooker will do. Drill a hole in the lid, use polyfil or tyvek and you should be fine.

yeah the tapered canning jars are hard to find. use whiskey glasses if you're using verm/BRF substrate. they work fine. see klue's thread.

A big problem I have with stealth growing in a communal household is that you're putting your house-mates at risk, without their knowledge or consent. Plus the fact that you increase your own likelihood of detection.
