Coschi Posted March 19, 2007 So say a cake is fully colonized and is intended to be birthed ala PF style Induce pinning first Then put into a tub with 'at least one transparent side, preferably the top' shown is a bin with plastic covering (perlite for humidification) Is it a problem if the entire tub is transparent? gerbil Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Nope not a problem. If you packed substrate into a transparent container wanting to fruit strictly flat terrestrial then you'd want the sides/bottom covered, but that's not relevant to cakes as you want the entire thing to flush (well besides the bottom I suppose) Edited March 19, 2007 by gerbil
AndyAmine. Posted March 19, 2007 In my experinace (with legal edibles) it is best to make the light source come from the top, so that the mushrooms grow upwards instead of all over the shop.. Just give the cakes a bit of room and more than enough light will make it to the sides of the cakes. ;)
chilli Posted March 19, 2007 I'm going to second gerbil's opinion, I wouldn't worry about it with cakes... in fact, all the cakes I've done were in a translucent plastic tub, and most of the shrooms coming off the side bend upwards anyway, even though the light source was at the sides (it was under a table near a window).
