sascacheuan Posted January 9, 2003 hello. I am reading a book about native shrubs from Iberian peninsule. I found two interesting species. -Maytenus senegalensis, i just know this specie, it is related to catha edulis and it is reported to contain cathine. -fluggea tinctorica. the book said that this shrub contains securinine. I have found this text about securinine: Securinine is the major alkaloid of Securinega suffruticosa, Euphorbiaceae, and related species. Securinine nitrate is a central nervous system stimulant. This compound raises blood pressure stimulates respiration, and increases cardiac output. The chemical structure of this compound is similar to: chemical structure It isnt an amphetamine like epedrine, cathine, etc. then my question is: Could securinine work similar to another estimulant alkaloids?. theobromos Posted January 11, 2003 Securinine looked interesting to me, but be cautious with the dosage. I will try to remember why.
