Hi, I checked out the calander recently, which lists 431 birthdays of members, which while being a small proportion, is big enough for statistical probing, far greater than the square root of total members - which I assume now is about 15000.
So tallying up the results came up with one major outlier:
The average # birthdays a month = 35.9
standard deviation = 5.58
January could be discarded because 27 people say they had birthdays in 1/1. But even so, the rest of January comes out at 44, above 1 standard dev. above the mean.
But the real surprise is how few member we have here that were born in November.
At n=24 they were below 2 standard deviations of the mean!
Why such a significant result for November people?
Would be interesting to do an analysis by star sign, but November is Scorpio mainly.
Are scorpios less likely to post their date of birth?
Or are scorpois less likely to be attracted to forums like SAB?
It's a mystery. And I've had enough esoteri for the week, I think I'll go back to good literature, philosophy and science. At least I don't feel a sneaky suspicion that I' being a fraud...something that lurks in the back of my mind when thinking about stupid things like this post.
