Auction: HUGE grafted loph! I'm auctioning off a HUGE grafted L. Williamsi for a friend. This is something truly special and certainly not something you see every day. The graft was performed approximately five years ago and the whole plant is in exceptionally good health. The grafted section flowers prolifically for months at a time and produces an abundance of seeds (although note that no one to my knowledge has attempted to germinate the seeds). Looking down from above, the grafted section has a circumference of 61cm (!) and a diameter of 21cm. From the top of the pot to the top of the grafted section, the height of the entire plant is 29cm. It has 13 large "primary" heads, and many smaller buttons. As you can see from the images below, there is no insect damage or significant scarring. It has never had any problems with rot, sunburn or other tissue damage. The T. Pachanoi that it is grafted on is planted in premium cactus soil and the whole plant has been kept under a veranda. Care has been taken to ensure that the grafted section stayed dry at all times. The plant has been receiving approximately 4 hours of direct sun each day, from early to late morning. The reserve price is $200. Due to the value of this item and the amount of time and effort that it will take to prepare it for postage, I will not be accepting bids less than the reserve price. On either the Monday or the Tuesday directly after payment is received, I will go to the house where the cactus is located, prepare it for postage and send it off. Postage ONLY to locations within Australia. Due to the value of this item, I recommend that the plant be sent as-is, and not bare-rooted. This means that the postage cost will likely be at least $30-40 and possibly more. Buyer must cover the cost of postage. The plant is going to be given a week without any water to allow the soil to become dry, which will reduce the weight of the item and thus reduce postage costs. I will bear the cost of any materials I need for packaging the plant. I have a reputation for taking great care in packaging cactus cuttings and the way I will prepare this plant will be my finest work yet, which will probably take me several hours.
