    psychotria viridis identification

Hey hey, A while ago I was given some psychotria carthagenesis plants which all looked very similiar (I posted some pictures of mine up here for ID'ing a while back) Anyway I gave one of the seedlings to my brother who lives a few hours north and now are our plants are a lot bigger they are both looking significantly different. So I was hoping someone may be able to give me a bit of insight into what his may be. The top 2 pictures are my brothers plant and the bottom 2 are mine. The guy I got them from propagated a heap for a tafe project and told me they were all psychotria carthagenesis.

    Some new additions.

Thats great to hear Tipz, and god I'd hate to have to deal with either of your spine related incidents so its probably best I go buy some think leather gloves or something similar. EG I've attached a few more photos of the cactus above that was sold to me as a T. Bridgesii, as you can see it doesn't appear to be as heavily notched around the aeroles as the photo in my first post.

    Some new additions.

Just some pictures of some new additions. Not really sure what the first one is, was sold to me as a T. Bridgesii but I'm not so sure on that. 2nd is a psychotria carthagenisis 3rd is T. Bridgesii (possibly of the psycho0 strain I think) 4th (top) is T. Bridgesii, (middle) T. Bridgesii (same as 3rd cutting), (bottom) E. spachiana. 5th is a pilosocereus azureus.

    Some new additions.

also the cutting I was given (the root stock) is super fat compared to any of my bridgesii or pach's.

    Some new additions.

Yeah I almost felt guilty having asked/received the cuttings when I read that story (poor tipz), one can only hope his foot has healed well in the mean time..... Yeah it doesn't appear to have quite as significant notches above each aerole now it's a bit bigger, I'll post another photo tomorrow which shows it a bit more developed, it's also not as fast a grower as any of my other bridgesii either, would be nice if its a pervianoid as I don't have any that I know of. (pretty poor with cacti id'ing)

    Some new additions.

Thanks EG, I was thinking it might be a peruvianoid as well, i'll take some photos tomorrow if I get the chance as that one's a wee bit old, and thanks Swiper, I got the spach of a very generous member on here who I believe got his foot all fucked up from these cuttings he took (jumped the fence and landed on it from memory, ouch!!!!), so fingers crossed it does him well and grows like a beast!

    Psychotria Identification

Yeah I just found a good little set of reference pictures on erowid for p. carthagenensis; http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/ayahuasca_apa/aya_gallery_psychotria_carthagenensis.shtml Looks like a spitting image of my plant, it flowered a few months ago with the same nice little white flowers which have a few appeared to have set fruit, which are only quite small and very green at the moment but they've only just appeared. http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/ayahuasca_apa/images/psychotria_viridis_leaf_compared_to_carthagenensis_zariat.jpg

    Psychotria Identification

Hey hey, I've had this psychotria (was given to me as p. viridis) for about a year now and was given it by a friend who grew a heap for a tafe project and I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that id. After reading this thread it appears to me that it could be p. alba based on the leaf waveyness talked about Kadakuda's first post. It's the only one I've got so I don't have anything to reference it against so any thoughts would be much appreciated. Ben.

    New front garden

When your backyard is that well stocked fuck the the theives! They'd need some sort of semi to fit all the stolen cacti in to do any damage to your stock. Beautiful garden, loved your little green house/chill out room in the video from last year with the invading caapi vine.
  15. I'd have to agree on the PC pach, looks exactly the same as my PC pachs.

Oh how I wish I could make it to Rainbow this year!!! Nevertheless, anyone heading to Maitreya in March? I'm super keen for that as I've never been to a Maitreya before and the lineup is pretty well amazing!

    First timer

Lots of minor penatonic scales (and various other interesting and obscure scales you don't find in alot of western music) in the good old school psy/goa that I'm a huge fan of!
  21. My first foray into manipulating the sonic realms..... Keen on any feedback you have!

Yeah I think I would say the same regarding my desert island synth haha although I would be a real close call between Massive and Reactor. Both my my brother and housemate are musicians and have been telling/showing me the same ideas for cord progressions and thing but alot of that just goes way over my head, there's just so much to take in. The main riff in there (not the acidy 303 sounding one) is a reactor synth thats got some scale plugin style thing that transposes your note/midis pattern into a predefined scale which immediately sharpened up that riff quite nicely so I've been playing with that trying to kind of 'reverse learn' off that by applying it to patterns and then seeing where the changes are made and how they affect the riff. It's certainly been a fun and pretty steep learning curve.

    First timer

Thanks for the feedback Ballzac it's much appreciated, Yeah I agree it doesn't really have any direction or resolution to the track as I decided to stop before I fiddled it into something sounding much worse haha (which I had done numerous times), I could have been there for days! Melodically I struggle (I don't play any instruments) so it's really a trial and error game getting riffs to work with another, keeping them in key etc. I think the 'professionalism' may also come down to the use of some good quality VST's too. Everything bar the drums and bass uses either the Native Instruments bundles (Massive and Reactor) which just sound epic straight out of the box.

    Cactus under lights!?

Hey hey, I have a 250watt fluro light that I use to grow leafy greens like lettuces and things and I'm wondering whether it would be useful for drying out cuttings/rooting cuttings, I can obviously easily control the amount of water the cactus is getting when under cover to ensure they don't rot so does anyone had any experiences with this? And also following on from this would I be able to keep the cactus from going in dormancy over the winter months by imitating its summer growing conditions? Thanks in advance!
