Moving sale list (work in progress, so check back periodically)

Is this for real? I didn't think we were able to get it here. -
Many moons have passed since I've been to one. Who are the regulars at the moment?
-
Is anyone bringing any plants?

Thanks for the links. I was engrossed in the articles by Una. It had some links to books etc too. -

I didn't say anything about posting it overseas. It would be within Australia. -

How well does T. Iboga go when being sent through the post? -
Hi. Does anyone have any red or blue varieties of corn? I am looking for seeds such as blue hopi and bloody butcher but other varieties also interest me.

Hi Some of my cactus seedlings have damping off fungus. Can anyone recommend a solution that will not harm my trich and loph seedlings? I don't want to use something that works fine for one plant or species but will destroy another. Also, would it be worthwhile transplanting some of the seedlings into some new sand that is not affected?
-
Me please!

Thanks for the offer, man. I can source some other ones locally at the moment. Your kindness is appreciated though. What do you think of those varieties?

The thing I hate about electric stoves is that it's harder to get the temperature right. I hate them for cooking food too since you don't get instant heat and if it's too hot then the plate won't cool instantly.

If you're a real connaisseur of babies then you'll always remember to shake them first, just like a British nanny.

I kinda know your pain, Tripsis. When I bought my 921 Amazon was only sending smaller things to Australia such as books, DVDs etc. I had to get mine delivered to a friend in the U.S. and then get it forwarded to me. This was when the Aussie dollar was a lot lower too so not only was the cooker a lot more expensive to buy the shipping on it to Australia was fucking expensive. Big businesses can get big discounts on shipping because of the economy of scale. Competition between shipping services to get the business would also help them out too.

I have the All American 921. It works on normal gas stoves and even electric stoves. I'm talking about the electric stoves that have the flat surfaced burners, not those shitty coil ones.

Well, if things don't work out then organise the Coroborree crew to help you drop a Google Bomb on said band ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb

I use that stuff. You don't need to grind the hard bits up. Just put them in your pot of boiling water that you use to pasteurize your substrate with. Problem solved.
-
Yeah, Brunnings sucks. It is hard to break up which makes it horrible for pasteurising. I find you end up with clumps of dry coir in it. Adding more water to try to fix it means you end up with soggy substrate which invites contamination. Regarding coir and added trich, you'll probably struggle to find any coir without it. However, this is why you pasteurize your coir. If you do it properly then you should not have any problems.

Thanks for the tips, guys. It's strange how attached we become to our plants. It's heart breaking to lose them after all of the hard work we've put into growing them, especially when you've grown them from seed and they take years to mature.

Yo I am going on holiday for about 10 weeks and I am worried about leaving my plants behind at my current place since the people whom I live with probably would not really care. I'm thinking of getting someone else to look after my cactus seedlings and various other young seedlings and young plants. Can any of you who have experienced the same situation provide any advice so I can minimise loss or damage to my babies?
-
Yeah, I was thinking of offering someone some of the plants as payment but I'd have to find someone who's interested and capable. I'd be shattered if I lost my loph (caespitosa) seedlings. I already lost some the other year when wind blew over my mini greenhouse.

Apart from the camping trip, where will the next monthly meeting be? The last one I went to was in Como I believe.

I have a pair of R.M. Williams. They were not cheap but they're nice and they will last for ages if you look after them. You might only need to have them re-soled every so often. I got a pair of the dress type boots. I use them mostly for work and they're good when it's raining or if I have a site visit.

Where's the meeting spot these days?
