Thanks for taking the time to post all of this, had pieced together some but not all, very useful.

Repeating the point brought up by many a philosopher but either DMT triggers a mechanism in human DNA which causes people to experience a particular hallucination independent of any knowledge of each other's experiences which is significant, or it triggers a mechanism that provides a genuine interaction with machine elves, which is significant, either way it warrants further real world study. As the article points out there are plenty of things that can trigger similar experiences but subjects have reported very specific similarities. I'm not convinced that they're a by-product of natural psychology.

I've drifted away from many friends over the past few years as I realized I was being someone who isn't myself when I was around certain people... I know it doesn't really qualify as solitude, but not being "on" for a week, then a month, then a year, you really start to know yourself, and begin tracing unhealthy thought patterns back to some of the people who helped to imprint them on you (including yourself). Glad I found this thread, made me reflect on that period of time.

I have recently moved house across the country and am bummed that the card I was given by a good friend seems to have disappeared amongst the books. I literally had my microscope in hand, ready for some hardcore microscopy, when all of a sudden it dawned on me that I have no idea where it went. Anyway, I guess the point of this presentation is that I feel your pain sir. Good luck, will let you know if I'm fortunate in my own pursuit.
