What's your top 5 Australasian fishy species? (or other aquatic life)

Red Freshy, only from one valley in the Blue mountains, in a national park so therefore illegal to own. I've been through that valley many times and it's crazy, they can be seen from a distance they are that red they looked cooked. I caught a very large one at the base of the falls at the Staircase that gets you into the valley. GO do this valley of you can. Certain days at the top the valley is full of cloud, it's like looking outa a plane.Grose valley.

Top 1 animal to bring to the ethno island

A ridiculously hot girl version of Bear Grylls for me thanks.
  5. I don't know how I would react if this happened to me and the idea makes me break out into a cold sweat. I would imagine most of these thefts have occurred because the wrong sort gained knowledge of a collection and bam plants gone. The majority of people have no idea the value of certain plants and they are not the easiest thing to resell, sadly that means inside jobs, people with some knowledge of cacti collections and their worth. Obviously there's always the chance columnars get stolen by people with no interest in cacti. The reason I posted this topic is a new, recent member, described it happening to them some years ago and they were just starting all over again.Over the years here I have heared the occasional theft mentioned and I was hoping to hear some detail not only of the thefts and what was targeted, but people's opinions as to why/how they were targeted in the first place.Thoughts on prevention and security. As for my self I am very careful about showing people my collection let alone any great amount of detail with regards to individual plants.
  6. If the subject of certain kinds of value has ever come up, I've been quick to throw in the " some of these plants can also kill you if ingested or blind if you get sap in your eyes" comment. I like to sprinkle my collection with the occasional columnar of African origin.
  7. Also I shall have two dried , 2 ft sections of this glued to either end of a broom stick, so I can run out and dispense some ninja style cacti justice to said thieves after my attack ferrets have had their way with them.
  8. Fuck THAT Prier, so someone targeting plants of value to collectors? Known knowledge of value, not just pricks chasing eatin cacti hey? What breaks my brain is those plants or at least some are prob still around. I know I would recognise a lot of my plants in years time, specially with the photos I keep of them. Your story bought that cold sweat revengey darkness over me...I read in Arizona , I think some council took to RFID chipping there Golden barrels as so many we're getting stolen. I'm going to get a pack of attack ferrets to live in my greenhouse fed on nuthing but meth and ferret! I'll train em to believe ever cacti pot is rammed full of methy goodness ment only for them! Watched over by my all seeing all recording IP cameras to HD recorder and IR flood lights ready to film the carnage.

    Thai Tektites- anyone interested

Ok all the lots of Tektites are making another journey now to just about every state in Australia. Well travelled they are! Udon Thani NE Thailand, flight to Bangkok, flight to Perth , West Aus and very soon to be trucking it across the country. Bet they didn't expect that when an asteroid smacked into what is now Lake Tonle Sap in Cambodia ( theoretical impact area) and they were ejected into the upper atmosphere as liquid glass only to rain back down in Udon and all other areas( including Australia, making up the Australasian strewn field)in a semi plastic state roughly 700,000 years ago or so a theory goes. There's some great info online about them. Each one tells a different formation story and the marks on their surface are a bit like finger prints, individual and tell a little of how each one was formed. Enjoy People!
  11. Ha true you just gave me flash backs to when I was about 13. I used to shoot my BB gun at my step dads( we never did see eye to eye)banana trees and I'm pretty sure I may have stuck one with a knife a few times. What a little cunt I was, that could be an almost perfect example of karma/payback right there!
  12. Interesting comments, I too recently had problems with a cactus being stabbed, by my landlords brat kid. The little shit stabbed one of my bridgesii three times with a screw driver I had lying around. Didn't notice the holes till the next day and put two and two together, I was not happy. I've given her kid a life ban from my house. She offered to pay for it but I only insisted on the ban, thankfully the plant healed just fine. I have considered an IR light for the backyard and have plans for a reinforced hothouse at some stage. Anything to make life harder in the unlikely event someone had a go. I've just too much time, love and money invested. That's a friking awful story FS, get it in the ground and cranking again...it would take me quite some time to get over something like that as well. I won't even put one cacti in my front yard. Nice to hear there are some positives to it though Nrivers!
  13. Is that Len your putting to sleep there Waterboy? I have a little Len just taking off.
  14. I'm sorry I just had to try and lighten the mood after reading all this. To answer the original question I think it would be unwise not to allow them back. I think they need to be charged with the offences they have committed.I think we need to use them as the valuable source of information they very possibly are.We need to study their actions, both past and in the future. We need to understand what makes these people tick and try and use this to advantage. The civilised, intelligent thing to do is try and create something positive out of this whole damn mess.
  15. This has just gone too far, I for one am shocked, is this bacon prohibition thing really happening Wert? My buddies didn't die face down in the muck so we could have people dictate when and where we can get our bacon damn it!! I don't care if I am walking through Lakemba( I have, had to pick up a pay check, strange but friendly place) if I get that Bacon itch I want to be able scratch it, where ever I may be! It's my right as an Australian and an American ( dual national) to have access to clean fresh drinking bacon where ever I wander on this fine melting pot of an Island-Continent.
  16. Seriously LMFAO Glimpse, I like where your heads at! Is that adapted from a movie or a piece of your own making? Interesting on the insurance thing in the states HCC, would be interesting to see if that was a possibility here.I suspect not but know little about insurance land. I do remember one time saying not as a direct warning but more a general comment that I would react violently if my plants were being stolen. They looked at me like I was crazy, was never sure if it was because the couldn't fathom how much I cared for some cacti or because they thought the fire in my eyes was directed at them. Poor guys they were pretty harmless types, but as per Incogs scenario I would rather have the second hand info be followed up with " if your gunna do it be careful cause if this guy catches you he WILL fuck you up and he is crazy, we saw him kiss one..".(Ario.Retusus...I liked it,I might even do it again..true story)
  17. Mate I can't use that link or paste it in my Facebook app , how else can I do a search for it? Hope your neighbour dramas are staying to a minimum. I would loose my nut, especially given they threaten that wonderful sounding refuge you have got going up there. In my experience individuals like that come undone due to their own nasty manipulative ways and people eventually see them for what they are. Just don't give em anything to work with. As sweet as revenge and fucking with nasty types can be, don't turn to the dark side. Do what your doing be as logical and as pleasant as possible and they won't know what to do with themselves. I get the feeling in the battle of wits and psychological warfare your going through you have the tools to take em down!!
