    Traditional Australian Flu remedy

an Irish friend tells me his dad had a similar remedy for him, administered in turn by his own mother this was a very large shot of whisky briefly simmered with a heap of cloves..friend hated it, but dad was happy to take it as a preventative measure now i'm no drinker, but i believe this is called a toddy? 3. hitler had really bad digestion troubles..extreme gas & nausea.. it's said he'd sometimes take a small amount of food when eating with his cronies, and would often have to excuse himself i think he basically went on to some elimination diet and found the only foods he could stomach were veg meals..every now and then he'd indulge and apparently regret it. there are many animal lib people around the world who have a personal grudge against the dalai lama for his non-veg diet. his reason is that it's a medical thing. he became vegetarian for a short time in the mid-60's i think, and fell ill, think he had hepatitis..his western and tibetan doctors (the latter who assess his health daily) both advised him to resume his meat eating.. he says he eats meat every second day, and therefore only eats meat 6 months in a year. some people speculate that his inability to thrive on a non-meat diet had to do with his decision to subsist mostly on milk & nuts and some fruit. but now there are so many tibetans living in exile, and the climate does not dictate their diet, he strongly advises vegetarianism.. he has encouraged a lot of tibetans residing in dharamsala to open restaurants that cater to tibetan tastes but serve only veg meals still, that's not good enough for PETA, because many times the ethical argument for vegetarianism arises, people often broach the dalai lama's stance

calea dream herb dosage can you help ?

here's my lucid dreaming tip: print out a sign in landscape orientation, with big bold print that says "Are You Dreaming?" .. make it look simple and neat (and don't use a sans-serif font) place one in your bedroom and another in a high traffic area..each time you see it, seriously ask yourself the question. this is the main thing that worked for me. inquiring into reality like this will become a habit, and one that will present itself during dreams & sleep.

    Hot ginger... mild ginger??

i think the difference may be young ginger (or new/spring/green/pink ginger) this is light coloured, little pink, bits of green etc..the one with the pinker really thin, soft skin (don't always need to peel this)..will have the bright pink tip things if not cut off.. it's far milder & sweeter & juicier and obviously less fibrous..excellent for juice, slivered for salad, or brief cooking...i pickle this with lemon juice, salt..half teaspoon before meals, melts in mouth, no fibres...lemon renders it that magic pink colour older ginger more pungent..then mellowing out when stored, then skin goes wrinkly..not so fragrant, kinda musty, fresh taste is lost

yes, i thought they already went through all that shit, recall andrew weil's court transcripts & other experts, in order to conclude the NAC could continue using their nasty little sacrament

    pan pharm

the travacalm were said to have between 0% - 700% of the stated amount of active.. ABC's 4 Corners last night is the only thing i've noticed where they mentioned the dangers especially with those who are using it recreationally...they had some excerpts of some drugs newsgroup or forum from south australian(s) .. saying that the 'tripping dose' is a full pack.. another that "it wasn't that fun, it made my mouth dry" and another noted that a friend was "petting a nonexistant cat" so many comments questioning the effectiveness and reliability of complementary medicines (as though one can't buy loose herbs??) ..trouble is the westerner's spoilt palette..why such great disdain for anything even mildly 'distasteful'?

    Betel nut treatment

i'd wondered why on the little limed betel nut packages (like condom packs) the ingredients would list: areca nut, catechu, lime, menthol, etc.. found in an indian grocer the other day, a brown tar/paste labelled katha, which i realised is the 'catechu' .. anyone know how this is prepared?

SBS friday 8:30-"shamans of the amazon"

i dunno..it just seemed like it would only spark the interest of someone who was already getting into drugs/entheogens, but had little to offer for those with a good grounding..even if it's stuff you're already familiar with, that sortof thing can be offered up in a unique way, at least in terms of presentation, which i don't think this doco had...yet the way it was presented, i don't think it would appeal to someone unfamiliar with possibility of psychedelic healing..i wouldn't quite say 'preaching to the converted'....it was just kinda....fluffy.. my comment about the graphics wasn't just pointless criticism..i just meant that it's kinda cliched, using those public domain wireframes, and all those sparkly flashy bits..i think that would put a lot of people off...that sorta thing can be hard to relate to when you haven't been there...and when you have, it seems like a pretty poor approximation...like i said, there was some other art in there that i found tasteful..just a personal thing i just don't think it really gives much solid info about shamans/shamanism...seeing as it's called "shamans of the amazon" shouldn't you be able to walk away with some developed ideas about what a shaman actually is, and the inner realms they work with, not just terrence's "a world inside of you" rhetoric anyway, i know a heap of people that watched it and really liked it..they all use/have used psychedelics recreationally and they enjoyed the cultural perspective & differences, and the element of validation of the inkling that these substances and mindstates can have wholly positive effects on health & self development. my dad didn't make much comment on it at the time, but it did prompt a good broad discussion the next morning after he'd had some time to think about it..i did watch with interest and i'm grateful for having seen it

SBS friday 8:30-"shamans of the amazon"

am i just jaded? i thought it kinda lacked any depth..? i watched it with my dad, who probably would've prefered to watch football.. same old boring rendered 3D models...though there was some nice art, as stills that had a slow wave effects and the sound mix wasn't great..? the volume of music and sound effects sometimes obscured the speech .. some of those terrence grabs sounded really poor..like internet downloads there was barely anything about medicinal effects except to say that it was a panacea, and there was no thorough explanation of caapi=ayahuasca vs vine+leaves=ayahuasca, perhaps that wasn't that important, but some of terrence's comments were in relation to smoked DMT, and i don't think that was really pointed out (i know he did mention inhalation)... also i don't think the shamanic paradigm was established or contextualised very well *shrugs* [ 29. contamination

aflatoxins created by aspergillus moulds i also think it's a load of bs...more of a cautionary measure..i never ate nasty looking shrooms, of course, but i did eat a few off cakes where there were small isolated patches of contamination..no harm done, but hey, it's my health, and i'd never encourage anyone else to do that [ 25.
