Hi Darklight, interesting stuff, please let us know how you go. I use Psudomonas for similar results. I haven't used Trichoderma before but, being a fungus, your plan on upscaling in a sterile liquid sounds like the right way to go. I assume the malt is because you plan on giving the trich a chance to colonise before spraying?

Banned TED Talk: The Science Delusion - Rupert Sheldrake at TEDx Whitechapel
Crop replied to 87_botanist's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
This fella used to be a great scientist. Unfortunatly ever since he discovered fame, a taste for wealth and dare I say religion, he no longer does the hard work needed to prove his possibly briliant ideas. I don't agree with RakeWielder that all Ted Talks are stupid but, despite making some good points, this one is. He is trying to be smart by duplicating the same template used to denounce creationism but instead turning it back against science. However he has chosen sensationalism over facts and even contradicts him self. For instance the consciousness thing, which he claims is not accepted by science, then he goes on to say "recent ur experimental research actually show that it is real" Yet aren't these very researchers that are doing all the hard work trying to prove the theory, the same scientist he is making a lot of money criticising. -
The Spiritual Link Between Alcohol Consumption And Demonic Possession
Crop replied to 87_botanist's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
The etymology is interesting, and the message is fair enough, but why wrap it in superstition. It left me feeling that even the arabic was only included to prey on people prejudices. -
What did you do in your sacred garden today?
Crop replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Ethnobotany
Yah mate MeanGreens right. Under humid conditions they sprout in the pod, on the tree. The trees grow great here in northern Australia, but the fruit mature while its still wet, which of course defeats the whole purpose (for chocolate you need the seeds). I gave up on em years ago. -
Is that a south park quote, lol?
-
Don't know how they grow down your way. Here they would cover a 5m tree in a couple of years and shade it out.. Their pretty tough ya can cut them back, pull some of it down and use the stem. I cut every year or so, the trees don't die. I leave a metre or 2 at the base till it gets as thick as ya arm and use this for special projects. Fragipani's break easy though.

Ha Dicko. I'm no expert on this stuff, so I hope someone that know's their shit answers you. From what I think I know, brachystachys can be great or toxic, best to grow from rhizome. Safer and pretty good is aqutica, which is easy to get in Australia from farm supply stores or some times Shaman Australis, or herbalistics have it http://herbalistics.com.au/product/phalaris-aquatica-cv-australian-seed/. Sorry can't be more helpful.

Mate, sounds like a fun toy. Very grateful if you have any left.

Thanks for that mate. I live in the middle of no where and have probably done so for tooo long. I can't begin to understand the place you describe. To me it seems horrible, even ridiculous. Yet this is where you choose to live, so there must be more to it. I suppose in this way you are similar to the woman in your story. You both stay in a situation outsiders don't get. As for filtering ya language, personaly, I wouldn't think much of ya if you did. I also think there is a big difference between PC and respect, but that's just me. It was good to see your thought proccess.

Opinions on selling the rare Phalaris clones on ebay?
Crop replied to MeanGreen's topic in Ethnobotany
Mate these plants are pretty important and growing by seed can be a bit of a lottery with toxins, I say if you can help get them out there good on ya. -
Ha Sallubrious, please don't take offence, none intended. I tried to move past this post but DV a big deal at work at the moment. The cops can't charge the fella or put him on a AVO, unless wifey pressed charges and asked for an AVO. I reckon, it would be a good guess, wifey dosn't want that public knowledge. Mate did ya really have to mention the guys race. If ya think only aboriginal mob beat their wives, ya not paying attention, some races just hide it better.

Sorry mate I've never heard of Piracetam but after googling, it seems to be for memory, if thats what ya mean, Brahmi, Ginkgo, and Gotu kola all seem to work for me.

Amazing job ThunderDeal, I was temped to say overkill, but mate if I followed this 30 years ago, chances are my body wouldn't be rebelling on me now. All I can think to add is the eye drops can easily be aplided your self, no matter how messy you are, if you go in from the nose, sit the dropper on your tear gland and squeeze away and if you grind your teeth get lots of gum.

My journey towards self-sustainable living.
Crop replied to Sarcophilus's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Mate beautful coutry, great block, always dreamed a bit of Tasy. After a life time in the tropics not sure I could adjust. -
Good job Gimli, on both the barby and the giveaway.

Mate ya got to get rid of the rot pronto. Ya can use a clean knife, I hold it under running water and use my fingers to rub off all the soft. I know water sounds stupid but you really got to get rid of ALL the soft shit. Pat it dry with paper towel, dust with sulfur. If you don't have sulfur, use cinnamon powder, or what ever anti-fungal you can get. Let it callus, worry about regrafting latter. Just realised your in a dry area, anti-fungals might be overkill, but can't hurt.

Would you say the act of smoking a cigarette is masculine or feminine?
Crop replied to freakazoid's topic in Chill Space
Smoking has to be feminine. When men smoke they just smoke, but a woman can use a cigarette to comunicate. She can summon you to her bed, let you know shes not interested or out right angry with you, all with out saying a word. -
Ha Inyan, if you had read the thread I already said signficant plants should be named. In fact this is were I would like to see everyone putting their effort into. Collaborative breeding programs is one way to accelerate this very time consuming process. I think there is merit in this, but we are along way off needing it. First we need to breed some superior strains. How many cuts do you have now that perform significantly better than wild harvested? Again mate I said else where everyone can name whatever they like. Again I already said thats business, and there will be no end to the 'I've got to catch them all' suckers that buy them, but if what your selling is not truely special, by naming it, you are implying that it is. Look mate, each to their own, but for me there lies an integrity issue. I know people have to make a living and I sort of get things like historical plants, but if we let the market dictate, as we are now we will end up with a confusing mess of thousands of plants with mediocre genetics. Imagine what we could accomplish if we all put greed and obsessive collecting aside to concentrate on making the best plants better.

Hi stona86, you could try areole graft. I have not tried this yet so no expert (I'm waiting for mine to get a bit bigger). You basically get a hole punch, (like the one used in leather or canvas work) push it over the areola(like coring an apple), tilt it to the side to break it off, trim the base smooth, and graft as normal. Does far less damage to your mother or you could do a lot more grafts.
-
Hi Inyan, I know it's frustating, but I'm going to answer your question with a question. Do you think it would make it more, or less confusing if we named every single seedling? It would certainly help us keep track of them, but we would have to add millions to the list each year. Sure this is an extreme exaggeration, non the less this is exactly the trend we are debating.

This is probably not going to make me popular! Botanical Taxonomy has been more about ego than science for way to long. The scientific definition of a species is; if two organisms can reproduce, and the product of that process is fertile, they are of one species. So brigdesii and pachanoi are simply regional variations of the one species, sub-species at best. Thats the science. Unfortunatly humans love to pigeon hole, and there seems to be this strong desire to personaly name things. They usualy come up with some vague justification like; "this one has different colour hairs around it's flowering parts, it must be a new species". Of couse if we apply that mentality to humans, red heads would be their own species. I know some of you that have dated a red head before are nodding your head right now, but it's simply not true. Ego has already made a horrible mess of botanical taxonomy, do we really want it to make a confusing mess of our hobby too?

The Named Is The Mother of All Things
Crop replied to DiscoStu's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
I'll have a stab. As I understand the Tao it's ment as a way of life for the masses. The way is mutable and can be adapted to all situations. Still your mind and you will understand how. It permeates all things. On it's own it is nothing, but without it everything becomes meaningless. Then again I've already had a few. -
MUSHROOMS (PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIENCE) - THE BIG LEZ SHOW
Crop replied to 87_botanist's topic in Mycology
Thanks for that Botanist, I've had that same tree trip. -
Look I'm no lawyer but I have had a bit to do with this recently. I wouldn't be suprised if there is some variation in Anti-Surveillance Laws between states, but make no mistake big brother is everywhere. You can definitly record, both audio and visual, anything that goes on in your own home and most of what goes on in your own business, including speaker phone conversations. Where it gets tricky is what you can do with that material. You can not show it to a third party with out consent, but in most cases you can use it as evidence of a crime. A supervisor abusing a staff member is a crime.
