west aussie's trade and sell thread

Good luck on the Sally D front in WA! Only ever seen one and that was 20yrs ago, been searching since! I'm DEFINITELY interested in Khat, Sinichuichi cuttings, Moringa (olefeira?) and B+. I have excellent quality cube prints of the Amazonian and Burmese varieties to trade or the good ol' cold hard cash if preferred. Please PM if offer still available Acacia!

    various seeds to giveaway

Anything doing in here theses days? Still looking to expand (well, get back!) my collection. My box of about 20 different seeds, priceless to me and over 8yrs collecting, got pinched by some unscrupulous person who has been suitably punished but sold my goodies for a pittance! Not happy. Any donations or "for sales" welcome. Anything of the ethno-botanical variety. eg. cacti, HWBR, datura/brugs, castor bean, anything poisonous, anything trippy. Thanks lasses and lads!

Careful using aluminium foil against your cakes, the acids or mycelium tend to eat it and you don't want to be ingesting too much of that stuff, not that healthy eating foil, allegedly. ;-) . . Feel free to PM me folks, I can help out with some lurvely dark cube prints of the Burmese and Amazonian varieties. Will definitely look good under the scope!

Hey there Shrooman. I've got some really dark p.cubensis Amazonian and Burmese available. They are less than a year old and still very viable, have been stored correctly and as of last week when I tested viability, still healthy. Just got a new scope to play with too so looking to expand my collection. PM me if you're interested and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I've been somewhat itinerant of my internet presence, but will aim to be checking in at least weekly. Cheers!
  5. Living the dream I am working towards! Will be keenly following and when I get time, posting some of the ideas I've had and been handed. Good luck mate!

I am about to do some work over the next few days to try resurrect some old prints via LC but definitely have Amazonian and Burmese p.cub prints from last year that are the best genes from those particular batches. Will be looking to trade for some diversity very soon so feel free to PM. Pic is Amazons. Peace, Ethno. PS - Good to be back after a year or two hiatus!

    Mycovative - Perth, Western Australia

I'll jump in on this. :-) Good cause, happy to help. Shall go to the FB page too and have a gander. Still going on SAB?
  8. ^^^ Agreed. Tried Shiitake and Pink Oysters, ask for the freshest batch not yet put on the shelves at Bunnings and tried on PDA plates, between cardboard with mild h202 wash, dropped into LC after stronger h202 dip and grain to grain! Nothing but contams and frustration. Even the agar plates yielded no visible mycelium at 100X magnification, just trich and penicillium. Up yours Mr Fothergill! Awaiting reply to rather hastily written ill tempered email to them... keep y'all posted.

I have some that were sent as part of a trade but only labelled "Giant Sunflower". Can send pic of the seeds if you are interested mate.

I'd love some Reishi, Shitakke (Ganoderma lucidumis I believe), or Maitake. Even black poplar or loins mane would be great. If I do get my hands on some I can send plates out quite happily after first fruiting or even transfers (isolates?) of rhizomorphic mycelium for those that have it. . We shall see what spring a brings.

    Edible/Medicinal culture seeking thread

Hey all, it's been a while, been perfecting my edibles method with tissue cultures from shop bought stock, learned and practiced agar tek and other stuff plus upgrading my microscope and am now looking for some prints to start making my hobby self sustaining, and give me the scope to share back in the very near future. Anything rare/exotic edibles wise would be greatly appreciated. As for microscopy, the form of the more potent spores interests me the most. ;-) Feel free to PM and I'll see what I can offer for trade as I have a fair collection of ethnobotanicals now, or donations hugely appreciated. I'll be sure to share the love once I am able. Cheers!

I might just chime in and say there is a nursery or two around that sell seedlings for very reasonable prices. I don't think we are allowed to link to or mention vendor sites but as an Eg; (from a tree farm a fair ways north) Acacia acuminata Rasberry Jam Wattle, Jam Wattle 50 mm $1.40 Yes I have released many of these around the place to share. You can also buy punnets and even trays of seedlings. It's easier to buy an extra few and give them to friends as valued presents or plant amongst existing stands of similar varieties for years to come. I stand by what gerbil mentioned too. I also just posted it to the WA thread but I have recently seen these beautiful organisms ripped clean out of the ground by 4x4's and the root balls cut off, right by the side of the road. Not on. I think it is an accurate statement to say you will not find the above mentioned Wattles between the scarp and coast. It's quite a drive to get to see good photographic specimens unmolested, and a sad one at that seeing the destruction along the way. As is the way with most of what humans want, if it was taken for profit only, not much thought, if any, was put into the repercusions of the immediate environment or the imact on an ecosystem from removing vital organisms from it so violently. Happy trails! Tread lightly, best leave no path at all.

Love your work Myco. Same here, have to keep it all legal nowadays. I won't even risk it with tbm's, I know torch's are on the no no list but still see them at Bunnings... for $30... at 6-7cm tall! Extortionate! Google "buy acacia acuminata perth" (without the parenthesis) and results 1 and 8 are the two I am familiar with. Is that a satisfactory manner to give direction without mentioning businesses or addresses? Number 8 (a tree farm, hint) has the following; Acacia acuminata Rasberry Jam Wattle, Jam Wattle 50 mm $1.40 Yes Buy many, plant them everywhere please! I have already set over 30 free. The best time to plant a tree was 20yrs ago (5-7 in this case ;-) ), the second best time is now. And pleeeaaaase don't go buying powder/bark/root etc, it is NEVER ethically harvested by those seeking to make profit. I have seen trees only a few years old ripped out of the ground by 4X4's and the root stock cut off... Pointless considering the species... twigs and leaves are just fine for our purposes of making pot pouri and small carvings with this variety, esp dried but not rained on. Also, don't listen to folks that say it can be found all over Perth. Trust me, I have hunted one end of the freeway to the other, sniffed many a leaf, from scarp to coast and bar one of two examples, you won't find a thing between the ocean and the foothills. Unless it's in someone's garden, and if you rip that, you should be gut shot and pissed on from a great height then shot again. Have a gander at them there nurseries and let me know what you think and whether or not they are the same as the one Caitlin mentioned, I missed that bit. Happy trails!

I'll have to drop you some Jam Wattles for future. They say the best time to plant a tree was 20yrs ago, the next best time is now! There is a nursery up north of Perth selling 50mm pots for about $1.50ea! Bargain! Shall bring about 20? hehe I'd be a tad careful about posting what you're gonna have up there publicly after recent events though mate... I'd say you might be under a little scrutiny? ;-)

Dead right. Perth real cacti and succullents had some ripper pach's, Michael is the guys name. I got a thick as your leg 1m tall specimen in a nice big pot for $10 with a couple of other bits an pieces chucked in for free (elephant ears, firesticks, a mysterious and weird cactus/cuccullent hybrid... Amazing garden too. Opuntias, agaves, heaps of diff varieties of cactus and bamboos. Have yet to see a melted wax bridg tho! ;-)

The Perth South of the River gardening groups (2 mainly) on FB have tons of Frangi's, and heaps of other really interesting stuff too! I got some variegated mugwort from a lady who swapped it for a strawb plant. Mugwort from seed, I learned, will revert back to it's original single coloured leaves. They only way to keep the freak strain alive is transplanting. Lots of that sorta thing goes on. Lots of swapping, lots of lovely old ladies with heads crammed full of years of gardening knowledge and happy to share, lots of seed saving and posting, some selling, a few meets... good if u are a painter and property maintenance person like I as well. Also, I am urgently chasing some PRINTS! New miscroscope (well, macro from an old mobile phone cam & PCB!) needs testing with fresh samples! Have 2 x p.subaeraginosa prints I am happy to swap... Please PM me. Cheers!

    Pap som giveaway

I have a 2 big 50L pots I am planning on using and also will be making a nice, rich mix with premium potting mix and coco coir. I can't say how much I love that stuff! It is awesome for fungi (pasteurized or sterilized), for adding to soils and holds a lot of water and nutrients. A $2 brick from Bunnings makes about 8 litres worth when wet, it really bulks out! Added to a 25L bag of average $5 potting mix you end up with about 33+ litres of premium, well draining and fertile soil. Really goo d for veggies with high water content like cucumbers, zuchini, watermelon, tomatoes etc etc... I have also been told that making longer and deeper beds is better for poppies rather than pots. Does this make sense? I am about to do some thorough research (and poke around here on the forums) to see how the root structure works and see what I come up with that is good, solid info. Cheers!
