    Vines from far west NSW

Yeah true; tomorrow I'll get some more photos and will head out to another part of town where it is growing very, very well, which will help to determine exactly what species I am growing. I'm about 300-400km away from the simpson desert, so there's a possibility we have slightly different species.

    Vines from far west NSW

Hey everyone, I have a vine that is growing out in the backyard. It also grows everywhere out this way. Trying to ID it. The first three photos are of this vine. Also, there is a vine that was planted out the front of our spare house before we bought it and I am trying to get an ID for that one as well. Last four photos are of that vine. Cheers

So you are positive that the one in my photos isn't c.remotus? The leaves of eyreanus look somewhat different (though google images may be showing me the incorrect plant).

The range that I could find for Convolvulus eyreanus through the website you just posted doesn't seem to quite match my location; Broken Hill. Though they may not have searched this area. Here is the link with distribution map http://bie.ala.org.au/species/Convolvulus+eyreanus

They definitely appear to be the same species, just walked outside and collected some dried out seed capsules and fresher capsules.

    Possible d.hopwoodii ID

Thank you terenna; the more I saw them, the more I doubted my first guess.

Well, I had a whole bunch of seeds that I dried out, was hoping for some "activity" but threw them in the bin when I figured they weren't. The vine grows everywhere around here, and due to the lack of humidity it thrives during summer.

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

The only difference from my normal routine of watering my plants, was to kick my greyhound off one of my garden beds. She thought it would make a great place to lay down, luckily I haven't planted anything in it yet.

    Barretts Bush Walks [PIC HEAVY]

Cheers, yeah I was in two minds as to whether is was a.victoriae, as a.victoriae grows everywhere around here, but most specimen have thinner phyllodes. I've only come across a handful with the fatter phyllodes so far.

Thank you for that The bloody weeds identification website didn't list that as growing in this range, so I didn't come across it.

Yeah, it is quite amazing out here. I used to live in Sydney and it just doesn't compare to the wonderful colours you get out this way, especially sunrise and sunset. It's the whole reason my parents moved here. Dad is a landscape painter, he moved straight from America to the bush in the mid 70's and hasn't looked back. When you go out onto the stations around town there is this feeling of pure tranquility that you just can't find anywhere else.

Duboisia hopwoodii (pituri) and D. myoporoides growlog

I thought I would chime in on the discussion of d.hopwoodii alkaloid variation, due to specific location, with this article I came across http://adsabs.harvard.edu/full/1951AuSRA...4..107B It's probably quite outdated, but I found it to be an interesting read and I am unsure if it has been posted on this site before. Also, I live in a region that is surrounded by d.hopwoodii - 40km in from the NSW/SA border (NSW side) - and will try the supposed traditional method of preparing it as well as slow drying it to see if makes much of a difference (obviously in very small amounts).

    BBs Garden

I have gone on a few bush walks over the last few days and have come across a few interesting species. Decided to get some cuttings of the trees that interested me the most. Here is some of the new kids on the block; at the bottom of the photo I have a few opuntia pups - even with gloves they were a pain to work with - behind that is the orbea variegata cutting I posted before, and behind that are a few cuttings of an unidentified acacia. This is my current "greenhouse" setup - though I am currently building a proper greenhouse On the far left are some t.pach that I started a few weeks ago and have most likely died, due to the fact that I used little peat pots. Next to that, in the pink tub, are some lophs that are in a much better cactus mix, which I started germinating a couple days ago. The three takeaway containers have m.hostilis in them, they have been germinating for 5 days and I can already see 1 sprouting These cuttings are from yesterdays bush walk. While on my walks I have noticed a bush growing everywhere that looked very similar to d.hopwoodii, yesterday was the first time I came across one with a couple little white flowers and it appears that I was correct - will post photos of the bush in another thread that will solely be about my bush walks - so I took a few cuttings to attempt to grow (far left cuttings). The middle cuttings are from a pistachio tree - there is a station about 10km out of town with pistachios, olive trees and stuff like that, that they bottle up and sell, so the trees have started growing in the wild as well. Lastly, on the right, are a few cuttings from an acacia tree that had fat, curved phyllodes. It is the only one of it's kind that I have come across so far.

Awesome find, they are majestic looking trichs. He must be proud of those cacti, and sounds like an awesome dude to give you some cuttings.

    Six Acacias

Hey everyone, I have gone out on a few bush walks and have come across a few acacia species that I haven't been able to ID - I have come across 15+ species so far First Acacia; it is in my front yard, hidden behind a large a.iteaphylla. Second Acacia; it is one block away, in an aboretum. Third Acacia; possibly the same as first acacia. Fourth Acacia; I thought it was a.karroo at first, then I saw the flower. Fifth Acacia; really long, slender phyllodes (25cm+). Sixth and final Acacia; Large pods, not too sure if acacia at all. Thank you for any help you can give
