    Home made mead

Heaps good advice everyone thank you : ) I was just pouring it off while trying not to disturb the sediment. I will try adding the yeast at a lower temp next time and see how that goes I will also experiment with champagne yeast, What I can say is it was a little stronger than I thought, I drank a couple litres of it and no food in my gullet so yeh It probably would have been funny to watch, stumbling around and saying who knows what, I know at one stage I was hugging the ground crying going on about how evil this place is and yeh would have been funny to watch, I felt I let out some negative shit and for that I feel good but dam embarrassing lol I am just glad I got of the internet when I did lol. The night eventuated into spewing and ranting and a hung over followed, maybe due to adding the yeast at higher temps but im pretty sure the quantity was a major part of it lol Hey Glaukus what would be involved in doing a second fermentation? and yule mead with special ingredients, interesting haven't heard of it, found this http://www.normandescendants.org/yule-mead/ looks interesting, its awesome experimenting with it, i may try adding a couple of datura leaves in a brew sometime, i do like puffing on it whilst having a drink, not often but always awesome when i do, like walking through the sun rays, i can see all the rays of light in bliss and wonder, last time i did it i woke up the next day to my mums boyfriend tapping on my van window (i was living in a van for a while, no running water or electricity was awesome, i quit my job and lived in the work vehicle lol) anyhow i was struggling to pry my eyes open, he was calling me by my name which was weird cause he usually calls me crack lol he was telling me to wake up, when i opened my eyes he was standing there talking, then i look away for one moment, look back and there is no one around, i thought that was very interesting, This place is so fascinating, amazing and well its everything i could and can think it to be, not that i really have anything to compare it to but still i find this place 100% interesting .

    Sida Cordifolia

What is the purpose for one wanting to grow this apart from asthma, speed and ice is cheap as chips and readily available to those who go that path, behold the hell to come, i was taking large steps over those lines at the bottom of electric doors at servos, yes funny but so fucked up, i love dreaming and this type of shit is the destroyer of dreams

    pruning TBMs

What is it you are wanting ? i know that when you slice them so some areoles stay on where you cut from and some on what you cut you will have the mother plant sprout new pups from that site, i haven't tried rooting a cutting but they graft well, just make sure you have some areoles, i have grafted some without areoles as an experiment and one year on nothing but will wait and see : )

Shit yeh i will take that, give me one sec to reply with what i have
  6. This is only my third year of growing cacti from seed, my second year was quite successful so i have taken it up a notch this year, must be at least a thousand of them, Most definitely not a pro and never use lights (i hate coal power electricity and have limited solar) Man just slowly open the tubs or what not, slowly bring them to full open conditions, i usually start with a chinese container than pot them up into small pots in a plastic tub then slowly open it, once no lid is on them and looking fine i bring them into brighter conditions, i am still a little worried and go the cautious path, tho some i exposed to full open conditions earlier are some of my biggest and strongest cacti, trial and error for your region. I have been potting them out of the chinese containers after about 12 months from sowing, is this the right thing to do or not i don't know tho i have been pretty successful so far, just don't worry to much cause there is plenty of seed available to enthusiast such as us. I start them under shade cloth and they get about 3 hours of direct light a day. As a side note i am listening to Paul McCartney Ram, shit that's a good cd, a little satanic but enjoyable to listen to all the same : )

    Help with Ross River Fever

When you mentioned the head message i couldn't help but reflect on the time i was very sick, i was so sick i would slip into another reality every now and then, i was living in a shed and owned a muscle car, it was my pride and was there next to where i slept, my dad helped me do it up, i loved that car and would polish it often, i was just living another day until i came to and realized none of that was apart of my current reality, it was apart of some feverish dream that to me was as real as this moment i write this, anyhow my stoner uncle placed his hands upon my head and i could feel the healing, it was as if he was sucking the illness from me

    Help with Ross River Fever

Well Glaukus if you don't have Ashwagandha in your collection let me know and i will send you some seeds : ) On a side note i will not get vaccinated for nothing, when i am supposed to die is when i die if i live then i hope to spread my genetics one day : ) vaccines are bullshit to me in fact near everything i hear is some form of bullshit or another, so many listen to people who can not even live here without aid, be brave and develop your own views people cause personally near everything i hear is a con, if you believe something than sure as shit you will see it manifest into your reality, i am trying to get through this transition without catching the disease of mundane life, such a phony boloney world compared to what i envision, i do hold hope we as ourselves will witness this extraordinary place through our own senses void of indoctrination, compared to what i want to say this is just a vague example of my view of this mad house. Please don't get me wrong as i do love this place of adventure : )

    Pests pests pests hate pests!

My dark opal basil hasn't been touched once or the zucchini and squashes its manly the beans and snow peas coping it. Bloody scale on cacti are annoying but I still haven't reverted to pesticides i just go out with a tooth brush every so often, by doing so they never seem to get outta hand but still its annoying, the scale on the citrus plants especially the lime tree gets them bad and is hard to manually remove all of them, i tried some borax and honey to lower the ant activity but they seem to just keep on going, i hear tabacco can attract beneficial wasps. When i get a new bed going i am going to try growing some cabbage because i love sauerkraut and cabbage is expensive from woollies, anyway im gonna plant a heap of geranium plants around and amongst them to lower pest problems associated with cabbage. Hey dood those bugs effecting you cacti i have no idea what they are but if the black spots get to bad then keep them dry and sprinkle some sulphur on them and face toward the sun light usually works well to heal them. In regards to beneficials here is an interesting site that i am yet to look further into, http://www.sgaonline.org.au/insect-hotels/

http://www.gardeninsects.com/ladybugs.asp Some interesting info about lady bugs and biological pest control. I have thought about breeding beneficial insects for a while now but am yet to properly study it, i can say that grasshoppers are being a real pain in the ass atm, chewing on my bean and beetroot seedlings, i felt a liitle depressed when i saw what they had done but gotta soldier on, its been really hot and dry here and i think that has a lot to do with it, seeking moisture. I may cover the veggie patches with shade cloth if it gets to bad, i try avoid using pesticides as much as possible, been looking at what plants get attacked more than others and trying to grow plants that seems to be left alone more, also been learning about companion planting not only as a form of pest control but for other benefits the technique offers : )

    Post your native plant pics

Found this tree today, I believe it is native cherry, I ate three of the ripe fruits and not to my liking, sweet for the first moment and then not so nice, the after taste last a while, I have read you can cook with them, i might try some more anyway when they ripen : ) Also what i believe is a wombat berry that was growing with it, i missed the flowers so am going to wait for the fruit to ripen to confirm that it is that and not G. cymosum which has black fruit and not yellow, G. cymosum you can eat the young shoots, haven't tried them yet but wombat berry is pretty good, you can eat the pith from around the seeds which taste ok but you only get a finger nails worth per fruit, the tubers are great fresh or cooked into stews or soups. The two are easy to tell apart when flowering , the wombat berry has three of the six petels fringed , the petals of G. cymosum are fringe free : )

    Is this Gahnia aspera ?

Cool, thanks for the reply : ) Hoping to get a positive id because if it is aspera I am heaps keen to experiment with it, maybe make some small bread cake things or to add it in with whole meal flour etc to make bread. I might have to investigate further to see if there is many or any look a likes and what some key factors may be in identifying or differentiating from possible non edible types. Any how thanks again for the reply : )
  18. Hey, was hoping someone might be able to help me confirm if this plant is Gahnia aspera or if it is some other type of Gahnia ? I have read that the seeds of aspera are edible and a flour can be made from them, so I am hoping it is indeed aspera. Thank you for any and all help : )
  19. Here is a pic of mine, since growing roots and being watered it has really started to take off.
