Organic filter tips for organic smokes
TrailBlazer replied to TrailBlazer's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Nothing beats GYO ! There is no excuses why one couldn't make these commercially, Even big tobacco could do it and save the enviroment in some bloody way but no that would be to easy! Even if it creates one less ciggy butt clogging up the eco system I will feel I have achieved something You can use commercial cotton balls hey but then you might end up with bleaches and other crap defeating the purpose hey. Happy you liked it. Cheers. -
Organic filter tips for organic smokes
TrailBlazer posted a topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
I quit smoking but thought I might share something I designed a while back to go with my organic tobacco I used to blaze up. I used to smoke organic manitou tobacco with unbleached hemp papers. The one thing that was missing was filter tips so I came up with this idea! I grow organic cotton for different uses for my family, Its a bloody good tree to have in the garden! So any way mates this is what I used to do hey. Take some fresh cotton and pull it apart into nice long lengths. Take a rolling paper and put the cotton in the paper just like you where rolling a ciggy. The tricky part is getting the right density and tightness of the cotton inside the paper, Roll it up tight but not to bloody tight or it will be to hard to suck through. Only takes a few goes and you will find a amount that you like hey. Once its rolled and sealed up simply cut it up to your desired filter tip lengths and hey presto, Organic filter tips You can roll different thickness for thick or thin etc. And the best part is they will degrade in the enviroment unlike the commercial synthetic shit! Hope that helps a few smokers out there. Try and quit if you can mates, But I can feel the pain your going through if you can't! Cheers. -

Leucaena leucocephala. Anadenanthera look alike
TrailBlazer replied to TrailBlazer's question in Plant Identification (non-cactus)
Yeah mate it looks very similar, Its easier to ID these things with a few photos of the different parts. A better picture of the seed pod would help. At a quick glance it looks the same as mine hey. Cheers. -
Leucaena leucocephala. Anadenanthera look alike
TrailBlazer posted a question in Plant Identification (non-cactus)
Hey mates. Planned on taking a bit of trip into some upland rainforest in search of some harder to find local psychotria.spp today. On the drive and being a plant freak like the rest of you I always have my eyes out for interesting plants. As it happens I spy with tired eyes an interesting Leguminosae in a ditch. After asking old mate the owner of the property next to it for permission to photo and possibly dig a few small plants up I took these following photos. Sadly no mature pods but some immature pods were on it. Lets see if we can work out what this bugger is hey fellas! So that was all well and good, I started digging up a few with the only 2 tools I had with me, The one in my pants wasn't up to the job ;) So out comes the pocket knife! Being the plant nut I am I started digging like a ice fiend digs their flesh and get one larger one out so I thought bugger this shit might grab a few more just in case this one gives up the fight. I started digging 2 more and my pocket knife decides to break as I am leveraging and I nearly cut my finger off. Wrap the the bloodied bugger in my shirt and carry on like one does and get the other 2. I then head to the hospital to recieve 3 stitches to my middle finger. Which finger is it the nurse lass says to me? This one! hahaha Got a free oxy for my trouble and got sent on my way! The things you do, The things you do! But hey scored a few plants hey! Thats what matters hey mates ;) -

Thanks for the photos mate! Nice looking vines hey. Your cielo looks nothing like the vine we ozzies have in Australia called cielo. My cielo lacks the silver undersides So the plot thickens! One aspect of your vine that stands out is the silver undersides of the leaves and the leaf veining which look very close to the B Muricata by plowman photo I posted. I have been wanting to take some photos of my vines ever since I started this thread but it hasn't stopped pissing down rain since then. Guess I am going to have to take some wet shots hey!- 37 replies

Organic filter tips for organic smokes
TrailBlazer replied to TrailBlazer's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
I think it does. The filter tips are way more brown mate after a cig than say ranch or venti filters so I take that as it catching more tar hey. The important part is getting the density right but after you have had a few goes its not hard to get the perfect filter! Cheers -

Hey mates Is there a way to resize a image thats hot linked from another website thats included in the post using the tags. Eg I would like to make thumbnails of some of the malph images in the thread I started. But members when clicking the thumbnails should be able to see the proper sized photo. I am a forum noob so go be gentle and use lube! Cheers! -

What did you do in your sacred garden today?
TrailBlazer replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Ethnobotany
Pink asian shallots, These are from malaysia so are perfect for tropical conditions. Planting them out today hey. Onions are very bloody difficult to grow in the tropics because of photoperiods. But these bad boys grow well and if your into asian and indian curries like me then they taste shit loads better. Only drawback is you have to cut lots of smaller ones up to make up for one large onion! All my veges are tropical and massive producers, Things like lima beans, Winged beans, Papuan giant bean (which is really a guord). Tropical tomatoes, Capsicums, chilli's and eggplants all grafted to Solanum torvum. I have eggplants 2m tall that produce all year round and same goes for the toms. They grow as trees rather than shrubs! Many types of sweet potatoes, Jicama, Peanuts, Abika, Kang kong, Taro, Choko, Cassava and much more hey. Its lucky they produce massive amounts because the pest factor is bad in the tropics but shit happens! Still trying to find a tropical garlic, I know they are out there because they grow in indo, Malaysia etc My family garden is very self sustainable. Thats without mentioning the hundreds of fruits I grow. ;) -
If it's for doing cuttings then it will be a long bloody time before humans get to consume them mate. By that time it would be long gone hey. I would be more concerned if it was for veges and fruits etc. Can't comment on any others but many make claims but in the real world most don't live up to the expectations! I don't use the stuff unless its a last resort, Better than losing a prize plant or something you can't replace! Another one to chew on is spider mites, Lots of organic oils n shit claim to control them and they might in very small numbers but personal exp shows they are minimally effective. Bust out the big guns like kelthane as a last resort and their ass is grass and they are gone, for good! I try to keep my plants as organic as possible big fella but sometimes I have to venture to the dark side. I do rate neem oil but again it depends on the problem mate, Its like asking how long a piece of string is! If this is about your tissue culture shit then you might have to get used to using the big guns hey. Darklight seems to know lots so she might help you more. Cheers

My hunch is that its Leucaena leucocephala. -
Numerous fungicides exist, I don't like using them but sometimes a mans got to do what a mans got to do! Its handy to keep a jar of Mancozeb on the shelf for when the tough times call and I want to give out the biff! Organic methods exist but only go so far and many are like tits on a bull. Mancozeb I regard as the multipurpose fungicide and its not to nasty. Without a photo of the problem its harder to suggest something more specific mate because most other fungicides target specific fungal problems. Good luck digger!
