  1. I bought some Cereus Peruvianus monstrose seeds off ebay a while back,
was told that i may have been ripped off, but i grew them anyway growing seedlings is fun
The seedlings were mostly neglected, 50% of the seedlings died,
After like 1 year the hardened seedlings are starting to show mutated traits.
So i should have some fun grafting them and watching them grow. :)

  2. I've heard that quiabentia grow very slow. I am thinking of getting one to try grafting with it, but somebody told me they had one 2" plant that grew 1" in a year and a 5" plant that grew 5" in a year. I guess it would just take some experimenting to find out how well they work for grafting.

Where will you get it from? I heard they are hard to find

  3. SO i got sulfur powder 6 days ago and applied it to the main plant, i will see if it is effective the red rust is still there and the plant is a bit soft now.

Unsurprisingly only the pc pachonoi grafts survived, the grafts have been successful but as i mention earlier the red rust was on all of the pups, so i applied sulfur anti fungal powder to the grafts as well
The scions are all hard and healthy.

This one i dont think it will survive

Should try an aerole graft that doesnt have rust from the mother loph or something?

  4. I have a mate that has terrible rosacea and chloracne on his face along with behavioral and learning issues. (terrible for anyone but really terrible for a young person)

His Dad was in 'Vietnam', he was sprayed with A.O and he formed the rosacea and chloracne shortly after, with no history of it or anything similar in his family.

He soon learned that this was a clinical sign of exposure and now lives on a pension paid by Dow/Monsanto.

It has been given to all his kids and they can only hope it doesnt pass down another generation as dioxin exposure usually lasts at least 3 generations.

Hearing stuff like this i want to advocate for genetic screening of sperm and embryo to ensure no corrupt data like hereditary diseases passes on, but of course this is a slippery slope to gender based abortions (which we already have)

    and designer babies

    edit spelling:

  5. I'm sure it is. They're run by Monsanto. You want to see a great example of an horrible greedy/evil corporation that is helping destroy the natural world, look into monsanto.

Haha, yep i have done a lot of research on them.

    * Supplied agent orange that was used to kill Vietnamese (still is today)

    * GMO contamination

    * Harassing farmers with mega lawsuits

List goes on, this just the top of my head

  6. Their is always someone in the toilet at my house and i always wait till the last second to go urinate, so naturally i just walk to the backyard and piss in the plant pots. This one cactus i have been peeing on has suddenly started shooting out pups from everywhere to the point that it can't even deliver enough nutrients to one of the pups.

I have cut other well established and rooted PC pachonois and not one of them made more than 2 pups with vigorous watering.
But this one i have peed very little on it (most of it hits the tree behind garage) and give it water a lot and it has 7 pups coming out (one at the back you can't see)

I know urine has the main nutrients in it (NPK: Nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium) So much that you are suppose to dilute it in 9 litres of water other wise you can hurt the plant but i never guessed it would pup this much.

Of course this is unsustainable for the plant, two of the pups are not getting bigger.

  7. So if i graft it, it will not be puprple?

I have this and mine have turned a dark purple during dormant conditions and full sun... Really quite nice looking compared to the white/pink it normally takes on. Will try to get a pic for comparison tomorrow.

    Awesome, can't wait

  8. Hi everyone, i have a Variegated Opuntia monacantha variegata. 'Joseph's Coat' and it makes lots of pups. It is actually quite common i see it everywhere

But i have noticed one of the pups is a bright purple color unlike the other pups which are very light pink at the tips . Is this rare? Is it just sun burnt?

I have decided to leave it on and see how big it gets, maybe i'll remove all the other pups so it gets the most nutrition. I don't wanna graft it just yet, i think i will wait a bit.

I have made 3 grafts of the pups to pc pachanoi's

    IMG 20140303 184427

    IMG 20140303 153945

I have made 3 grafts of the pups pereskiopsis

    IMG 20140303 184453

And another 3 grafts of the pups to monstrose opuntia subulata

All of the pups have a bit of rust on them so i am probably wasting my time, but hey i did it anyway.
Thanks for all the help tommorow i'll get my hands on some sulfur

I wish i had prevented this rust before it spread everywhere, also i doubt it is mites as i have like a blanket of 1cm thick diatomaceous earth on the soil it is potted on
    Lets hope it survives :)

  10. You are right it is too far ahead in the mother plant to cut out, and all the pups have the orange rust on it as well. I guess i will just have to vigorously spray it with anti fungal and hope for the best. :|

I am going to try to graft one of the pups anyway, preferably one that doesnt have as much orange rust.
