dude get a lighter leash!!! one of my mate's has one attached to his glass thingy. its impossible to tax. $2 from a servo, just a retractable nylon string with a base that attaches to lighter on one end and the other end attaches to your wrist or smoko pouch or utensil

haha I reckon. McKenna told good, provocative stories. but like anything a total tripper talks about, it should be taken lightheartedly.. mushroom people are definitely not the craziest idea concieved by psychedelics so why not just take his word for it like 'ok man :)'

i dunno man he fuckin loved his mushrooms. ive got a few of his books but yeah wouldnt surprise me, he had the idea of mushrooms being extra advanced intelligent life. they could manipulate their form or something and chose to be mushrooms because the spores would spread so easily throughout the universe. to inhabit as many worlds as possible. and they communicate with those who ingest them via the psychedelic experience they enable due to their dna. a dna 'imprint' of some kind is also imparted upon the ingestor? and his/her dna permanently altered from then onwards. have you read 'true hallucinations' at all? explains so much

hell yeah good point waterboy, there is definitely a big difference there even just thinking about some of the withholding periods some chems require after spraying, before harvesting. even if the bottle says its safe to eat after a month im like eeeeeeeeeeee yeah. try not to think about that shit when i buy fresh fruit and veg at IGA hahaha -

the loss of biodiversity when using poison is far less than the loss involved in allowing the weeds to continue their take over -

I can think of a few others in my area that are really bad and most land management groups just go for poison- guinea grass, grader grass, hymenachne, shit like leukena, parkinsonia, pond apple, parthenium, the list goes on. people are employed in biosecurity full time to just mark infested sites by GPS either on foot or in a chopper before they come back and poison it all -

well in the case of Singapore daisy.... its mostly a ground covering habit. but it also climbs and will choke small trees and shrubs. around here, its invaded and has been very successful because there are like no other plants that inhabit the same niche that can out compete it. so its had a free run with fuck all to stop it. it chokes waterways and dominates the understory along riparian zones. it propagates itself by runners and even very small pieces chopped up by a whipper snipper can strike roots ans take off again. it loves shade just as much as it loves full sun. its a very well rounded opponent. fire resistant and very hardy. mechanical controls are limited to pulling it out at the roots by hand or constant mowing, which is impossible on rough or hillside terrain. when there's that much of it there's seriously not much else you can do apart from spray it. and that's just singapore daisy.... -
I agree Ceres. I kinda feel like that about most able bodied people who consistently bludge off the hard work of others because they refuse to do anything for themselves. ie hippies stealing baskets and baskets of fruit from an orchard on their way past. sure the whole point of growing healthy organic food is so everyone has good solid tucker but when it gets taken by people running in at night guerilla style, who did zilch to contribute to bringing it into existence its a bit freakin annoying

I can see why we use poisons though. when it comes to conservation and land management theree really only one option when it comes to managing weeds, especially when you've got acres and acres of it and no other control methods work. they might not be feasible economically, logistically or environmentally. when time is money and you're working against the clock to cover a few hectares of infested pasture, chemical controls are honestly pretty much the only hope you have of dealing with it. anyone whose actually worked in these areas will know. carting around a backpack sprayer full of round up for 8 hours in a day isn't fun but its sure as shit gonna knock those weeds on their ads if you do it right. I have no concerns about using chemicals on a few hundred square meters of Singapore daisy at home -
hmm so must be quite the sleeping problem people have. if buds and booze don't work why would any other combo of drugs work more effectively. just not doing it right ;)
