What does it do?
-
Excellent indeed! i grew some from seed this last year as well. got four out of a hundred still alive! greatest danger is as you said, .. possibility of over/under watering and damping off/ drying up. growing ephedra sinica

It is a little out of focus, but I am sure that is D. Cabrerana ... just under the orange blur in the background of this photo.... https://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/whatever-you-want/images/e/e9/Bigfoot-is_real_jpg..jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140205073045

Ok, in order to summon this mystical mythical plant entity.... I will now invoke the magical powers of.....whatever will volunteer. with this ancient spell. i apologize, if the demands of the forces of....whatever color.....are not as PC as you might hope. here goes....!! Mucho thanko, Mr. Speare! here goes, hold on to your hat! 1 WITCH. Thrice the brinded cat hath mew'd. 2 WITCH. Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin'd. 3 WITCH. Harpier cries:—'tis time! 'tis time! 1 WITCH. Round about the caldron go; In the poison'd entrails throw.— Toad, that under cold stone, Days and nights has thirty-one; Swelter'd venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i' the charmed pot! ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 3 WITCH. Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf; Witches' mummy; maw and gulf Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark; Root of hemlock digg'd i the dark; Liver of blaspheming Jew; Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver'd in the moon's eclipse; Nose of Turk, and Tartar's lips; Finger of birth-strangled babe Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,— Make the gruel thick and slab: Add thereto a tiger's chaudron, For the ingrediants of our caldron. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Cool it with a baboon's blood, Then the charm is firm and good.

Wonder if it could be propagate from leaves like some other plants ...
-
Do you think that there would be a market for d Cabrerana as herbarium specimen or collectible plant if it was obtained and propagated? it grows slowly, everyone seems to be looking for this plant and never find it....
-
Now I supposedly have some live rooted cuttings lined up from an obscure source. if course thise were delayed in being sent. it is amazing how , as someone once said several years ago.... this plant is always just around the next bend in the road.....always!
-
Ok unfortunately the leaf was dead on arrival .

Hey please ask that guy in tropical USA, re: cloning Cabrerana the unicorn of ethno plants.. how he did it, if it worked, land what went wrong if it did not.. and of course, can I get plants leaves stems a photo anything.... this plant is real, I have heard....
-
No one has ever propagated this plant, that I have spoken with.... very rarely does anyone have one, if ever...... i think if it was available, many would want it for their ethno garden plant collections .
-
The fog is very excellent....aeroponics as well. could you please check with your USA friend and see if any plants or leaves that might be propagated are available? this plant has to exist, I mean, I think I have an actual leaf...... how can it be so elusive?
-
Did this work for you? i am Torn between my own sort or aeroponics...'fog ponics' Aeroponics, And a couple others things like putting it into a disinfected jar with moist sterile perlite after disinfecting . or, cutting a few sections and making some home made micropropagation medium, dinisfedting the leaf, cutting a few sections and trying that. the thing is, I only have one leaf! so, it's not like I have too many chances. I did see a poctuee with the leaf, did you actually manage to root D. Cabrerana, and how did it go? will post a picture of the leaf later, for ID . let me know any thoughts in this. thanks!
-
Does anyone know yet of a live source of rooted cuttings , fresh leaves to try and propagate , And or a tech that works for sure to propagate diplopterys Cabrerana? still looking since 1998! a for sure USA source would be great too
-
Has anyone here ever seen a captive specimen of the mythical Diplopterys Cabrerana plant outside its native environment? It is rumoured to exist, and there are dried herbarium specimens, yet, I can never seem t get a live plant for my collection after looking for 15 years plus...(Usa) Viable seeds or clones, does anyone, anywhere actually have this plant? (in captivity)
-
Dang I have been trying to get this plant since 1998 for my collection! now I seem to have maybe gotten one live d cabrerana leaf to try and propagate. can anyone suggest a good teck, to propagate? Or a source of live plants or leaves tjat can get to the USA? thanks!
-

if its an alicia anisopetala leaf (many used to confuse the two) then i've never had one root from a leaf cutting in any way shape or form ever ... - does it have fine hairs on the underside and do you got pics?

Is it safe to say that its main value is the pretty flowers, and not any medicinal quality?

I have had low germination rates, too, and when they do germinate, damping off can take its toll. Did anyone determine if this plant actually does much, or if it could? Is it even worth growing? Nice flowers are worth it, maybe

Is it worth messing with? The seeds I got have a not so impressive survival rate. And, no one seems to like what this plant can do much so far. Has anyone been impressed with it yet?

What did you do in your sacred garden today?
shonman replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Ethnobotany
checked on plants and aquaponic systems, some carniverous plants had dried out a bit due to heat fluctuations . Walked further back into the forest at dusk, the full moon. Growled like a were jaguar as I walked the woods, terrorizing deer and bunny rabbits in my path. Stood on the hill, overlooking the lake as the sunset in colors from blue to indigo across the sky Took a piss with the wind, marked my territory for all to smell. -
mold can be a problem some times of year even where they do grow

Biological control for fungus gnats in garden soil Australia?
shonman replied to Darklight's topic in Ethnobotany
take a jar, put some apple cider vinegar in it take a clear plastic bag, put it over the jar opening. Tape tightly around the edges. Poke a small hole in the center of the plastic. place in warm area near gnats. they will fly in and not get out strangely gratifying to see a bunch of then drowned in there over a day or two works all day and night, tirelessly, almost for free!!- 3 replies

I think this plant is over rated personally. It does have usefull properties though. It loses 70% weight when it dries. Repels bugs, smells nice. Cleans water.
