My pach monstrose has awaken from its winter slumber

Potted up the majority of seedlings from zellys seed. Fark what a mission, finding enough containers was half the battle. Anyways, Had some free time and took a few photos of things about the garden. Some texana seedlings just under a year old. Raised them in straight pumic sand and now moved them to a proper mix 'Pachanoi' I raised from Cactusplaza seed. Hmmm we shall these how these pan out... Huanucoensis x kimnach looking plump. Only reppoted them just over a week ago Macro from Ceres starting to take shape. I have a good feeling about this guy. Another macro looking fabulous as usual And finally a bud on my T. lobiviodies 'purpureominiata' Should be able to cross this guy this season.

If you happen to have a pristine alpine river at your disposal you could farm wasabi? That shits meant to be pretty high roller

I got this funky plant from Solomon late last year. Would like to hear some opinions on where abouts in the tricho family this one falls under... Just looking at it I'd lean towards cuzcoensis however I've been informed it has non visible traits which are far from whats expected from cuzcoensis Cheers guys and gals.

I think some of the oldies in the cactus society would go into cardiac arrest if they saw your collection Ceres. That pot the lophs in up the top right in the 1st pic looks very worthy!

Interesting.... Huanduj had a brief note on breeding variegated plants saying that any resulting crosses always end up albino ( I think thats what I read from memory anyway )

Anyone ever come across this one before? Gymnocalycium pseudomalacocarpus. The specialist cacti shop in NZ sells them. There is very little info anywhere online about this species/cultivar. None the less this was a good score for $4.00 This isn't even variegated ( or sunburnt ) . Its just its natural colouring and the markings are really interesting aswel. Will update when flower opens.

Busy afternoon sowing the following: D. metel yellow D. metel purple D. inoxia D. stramonium Papaver 'Mammoth' P. viridis And currently soaking I have more Acacia acuminata seed than I care to count and 3x phleb seed This morning was rather eventful too. Planted some yams in the vege patch, patted the neighbours cat, neemed the caapi, propagated some peres, admired a sulcorebutia in flower and showed some fellow cactus enthusiasts around the garden. And for tomorrow even more is planned...

Interesting that they're in the UK also. We have these for sale where I work and im in NZ. That plant in that photo seems to be doing well. I'm yet to be convinced the ones we have down here will produce a decent yeild out of either end of the plants. They seem pretty manky with lots of growth from the potato stock dominating the tomato and we've been informed not to remove that growth

Dam those crests are mental! Esp the myrtillocactus I have something similar to your last crest there Mutant. It was given to me by memeber 'bit' and its a Cleistocactus winterii. Cant say for sure thats what your one is though.

That tarmaensis in the background is one hot catus CBL gave me a 10cm huanucoensis seedling he grew from Sacred Succulent seed and for all money I would have guessed it to be a pure scopulicola. The skin is so leathery, do the mature specimens keep this texture or will it grow out? ( or did SS potentially mislabel the seed? )

They look suprisingly okay. Will the burnt skin heal up or will it just turn to rot? I suppose it depends how far the heat penetrated the flesh as to whether they'll recover or not

For one of those bungies its half price if you go naked isn't it? Alternatively you could skydive over the southern alps ( dont do that naked though ) Or... Go whale watching on a boat in Kaikoura, sample some local kaimoana while your there. Have a go at fly fishing for trout somewhere, popular places will have somehwere to give you lessons on how its done. Bush and coastal walks galore. If you end up around Auckland I can show you the west coast and the Waitakere Ranges which is cool. Give you a surfing lesson if you want.
