Ebay - T.peruvianus or is it?

Looking at the new photos that have been put up I'm not sure it's either Saguaro or terschecki, looks more like it perhaps could be Stenocereus thurberi

What did you do to your cacti today?

No idea mate, had nothing to cross it with so I guess we'll find out if they are self fertile.

    It worked though

    Opuntia spp.

Just wait till your nice spineless pad all of a sudden goes and does this out of the blue, this one had no sign of spines when I got it. Few months later, 5 inch spines and buds.

What did you do to your cacti today?

Pampered my Selenicereus beyond belief, it's first bud is just starting to open here and we have a stormcell incoming. So...... Problem hopefully solved!

What did you do to your cacti today?

Cheered my Selenicereus megalanthus along in it's attempts at flowering for the first time in my care, got to be getting close as the bud now is over a foot long from stem to tip. Just hoping that our recent cool change won't make it abort or something similarly silly.

What weird things do you collect

Other than cacti and bad habits I seem to be getting myself quite the collection of granddaughters, 4 girls now ranging from 11 years to 2 months old that call me poppy. Not to shabby for a 36 year old! Yes, they be step granddaughters....wife caught herself a toyboy.

    Opuntia spp.

I picked up what was supposed to be O. cacanapa from an Ebay auction about 2 years back, came with a pad of O. macrocentra as a freebie, and it's anything but glochnid free! It's still way to small to really be putting out any serious amounts of flowers but after potting it up a few months back it seems to be kicking into growth. Same goes for the macrocentra, that acctually flowered for me this spring, potting it up really accelerated it's growth. Funny thing looking around is that all species bar ficus-indica seem to be on the controlled weeds list, and still there's species sold through commercial nurseries like Hamiltons and I've even seen Opuntia fruit for sale in a local fruit market. Makes you wonder if all the O. microdasys that Hamilton's/Bunnings/Masters are pushing out is against local weed regulations.

    small cactus ID

If it is then expect to find a massive taproot when you repot it, mine was well on it's way to split the pot it came in!

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.

Persistance payed off! Been out every morning since Thursday, minus Sunday as they are closed, and finally caught it in bloom today. Very Echinopsis looking flower if you overlook the lack of hair on the stem.

    I'd guess M. schiedeana or M. plumosa.

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.

I'll do what I can mate. Wife now knows I'm officially nuts as I've made it my mission to catch this one in flower and with it apparently being a night flowering plant there's only one real chance of doing so....early morning. So I was up at the crack of dawn this morning and headed out to Hamiltons at opening time. Unfortunately it's still a day or 3 early it seems and the bud still remained closed. Going to keep heading out there every morning to see if it has opened, with my luck it will be Sunday when they are closed and I can't get in through the gates though. Did however catch this one in bloom out there this morning. Guessing Espostoa melanostele.

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.

Not my plant and not 100% sure you could call it a columnar as it tends to spend most of it's time laying down....still not to common a sight to see though. Stenocereus eruca in bud, photo taken out at Hamiltons a mere hour ago.

some flippin' sweet crests on ebay

Shit, at those prices you could turn a Hamilton's visit into a viable investment!

    Whats this?

    M. karwinskiana I'd suspect, at that size likely 2 separate plants as they tendo to divide dichotomously. Though I have one around that size that is sending our pups so you never know.

    Police brutality @ Mardi Gras

Note the cut in the video aswell, he's resisting and throwing a punch before getting cuffed. The kicking is coming after he's been patially cuffed! There's a third video also floating around that shows the immediate aftermath after that first punch. http://youtu.be/sFwkVRZWemk Plus to add some oil to the flames, check the very first video out step by step. http://youtu.be/OMeOy1aR_uA Note the additional kick just before the final takedown?

    Police brutality @ Mardi Gras

As previously stated I'm still on the cops side of things, there's just to many unknown's surrounding it for me to change my mind. For one who's to say the situation was under control even with the twerp in cuffs? I saw atleast one bystander trying to step in and hinder during the cuffing, though a whack with a glowstick might not be the most effective way of doing so As for the rough takedown, that I'd blame on adrenalin combined with shoddy training. Red mist decends and unless you have been trained to handle it bad things will happen. Nowadays police training is more geared towards classroom schooling in law/ethics/morals rather than acctually hands on getting to learn how to handle themselves in a pinch. Seen to many instances where it seem cops nowadays just don't seem to have learned to adopt a middle ground approach to things, it's either peaceful patrolling or straight aggression.
  21. I split an Echinopsis on own roots nearly in half last year and it still kept on going. Started as a small split so I kept it dry for a while but every time I watered it after that it just split more and more. But since I kept the split surface dry it just callused over and never rotted.

    Police brutality @ Mardi Gras

Always 2 sides to a story! Have to admit the takedown in the first video looked ugly but if someone who just recently tried inroducing the bottom of his feet to my face as seen in the second video started resisting again I'd be likely to do the same. I might be biased towards the cop's side of things though but in my mind if you are in the situation where cops want to cuff or detain you it's best to just play along. Stay calm, shut the F up and comply! Any physical resistance will just make your situation worse...both on the day and at a possible future court attendance.

Yup, didn't do a single thing wrong did he! Just saw some new video showing the little twerp punching and kicking the cops, can't find anything online yet though but it's bound to pop up sooner or later Edit: only link I can find is Nine News Sydney's video page. http://video.news.ninemsn.com.au/live/sydney

    Money money money

Though it might of been tounge in cheek as an immigrant I have to say I take some offence to that mate. Hell I take offence to it even though I got into the country in a shady way not really approved by the almighty DIMA. So yes, I stole some poor bogan's job in a warehouse (that he/she most likely would't even want in the firstplace as there's work involved), hell I even stole one of of your wimmins as the Aussie she was married to couldn't hack it and traded down to an import. Pardon the rant, shit week at work (and yes I had my share of tax money "stolen" by the govemenment this week that likely will end up in a bogan dolebludgers pocket by the end of the week) and just can't help myself from going all tourettes at something like this.
  25. Sure that first one is Mammillaria? Ribs, tuberclers and spines look more Gymno to my eyes.
