A. obtusifolia seedlings not to good?
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Australian Native Plants
Looks like about half of them are gone.. .. I'd say I'll definitely get to keep 4, maybe more if I'm lucky. Maidenii's are powering like there's no tomorrow, I expect it won't be long before I see some mature phylodes. I've put in another 6 obtusifolia seeds, I'll get it right eventually. I'm at 1000mtrs & inland, with hardly nowhere near the same humidity as on the coast...so...hopefully...eventually...maybe. 10:30pm - 24deg - 79percent humidity. I'm crossing my fingers... -
Brugmansia sanguinea seed wanted or cutting...

Thanks whitewind I think with you saying that, I'll get back to my, "you never know" train of thought. Thanks guys... -
Brugmansia sanguinea seed wanted or cutting...
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Ethnobotany
Appreciate all the feedback & also the offers. I think after hearing what everyone has to say, I might put it off for a while. Like I said earlier, a friend has offered me some cuttings that do grow well in my region. So I might try growing the Brugs that grow successfully here first & if I still feel the urge for the challenge then I'll reach out again at that stage. Very deadly having all this info & resources available. Thanks again, I feel very privileged to be a member within such a community. -
Brugmansia sanguinea seed wanted or cutting...
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Ethnobotany
I was speaking to a nursey about this & was given the same advice...but...seeing as how I'm at 1000m, I thought it might be worth a try. I thought if I kept it in a large pot & shaded during summer, it might work . Thoughts? I also don't have high humidity issues, most of the time during summer. Whether this plays a role I don't know. The advice from the nursery was that this species has no perfume ( can't have perfume & beauty... ..oh well ! ) Excuse my misnavigation (if that's a word..lol), I'm still getting used to rules & formats of forums. Thanks for the offer Jonstn...but the dude from the nursery is a friend who has offered me cuttings of alternative sp. , so I'll have some coming soon anyway. I'm definitely interested to hear from "planthelper" though, or anyone else, on my line of thinking... thx guys ... -
Mescaline containing cactus in QLD
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Legal Matters
thx Psylo... -
Hi to all, I am still fairly new to ethnobotany & especially to the laws relating to certain plants in QLD. Can somebody please shed some light on this stupidity for me? I apologise if this question has done the rounds before...

Hi to all, Was wondering if anyone knows where or who might have some Brugmansia sanguinea seed, or even cuttings. Seed would be preferable, but I'm easy (at least that's what my wife tells me...lol). Any help would be appreciated. Thx "space duck".

That being the case I have been wrongly informed...apologies to all. Sorry for hi-jacking your thread "gnome82".

I'm only going by what I was told by a nurseryman, the nursery sells a lot of Brugmansia's...he informs me its to do with alkaloid content & is more to do with consumption of a preparation. I'm not sure on the workings, I mean I still have trouble understanding why all lophs are schedule 2 in QLD but San pedro's aren't. But from what I've read you can still be prosecuted for having any mescaline containing plant in your possession ...it all leaves me a bit confused. I was thinking more from the perspective that anything that has any medicinal benefits threatens the monopolisation of the market place by pharma. Just a bit of conspiracy theorising...lol.
-
Actually I was told only yesterday that comfrey has been illegal for about 20yrs (QLD anyway, so the nurseryman told me)....I was told this is the reason why you can't find it for sale in nurseries. It's not a law that is heavily enforced, but, it's a nice "ace up the sleeve" for the blue boys. It can only be because of "good ol' pharma". Another ridiculous law made by our ridiculous excuse for a government (western form of democracy = jokeocracy).

A. obtusifolia seedlings not to good?
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Australian Native Plants
I'm starting to think it was the arvo sun. I think the maidenii's are faster growing & I may have jumped the gun when I transplanted them all at the same time...maybe I should have waited a couple more weeks for the obtusifolia's...so they were a little more established. Thanks again for the input guys -
A. obtusifolia seedlings not to good?
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Australian Native Plants
A. obtusifolia's A.maidenii's One of the not so good obtusifolia's...you can see the 2 in the background are doing a lot better. One of the better obtusifolia's Nice healthy maidenii Obtusifolia with a bit of hard work ahead of her Psychotria viridis for good company...you can see the 12 on the left are the obtusifolia's.... Like I said earlier, they were all transplanted at the same time from seedling tubes, into the same mix (osmocote native). Yet the obtusifolia's look like they're doing it hard, compared to the maidenii's. If the nitrogen fixing is the issue, then shouldn't they all be struggling? I don't know...I've never grown acacia's before. So these issues are all very new to me. All the help is appreciated...thank you guys. -
A. obtusifolia seedlings not to good?
space cadet swami replied to space cadet swami's topic in Australian Native Plants
I'll see if I can get some pics up tomorrow...I had bad light the other day, so I thought I'd just fish for some answers. I'm still a bit confused as to why the maidenii's are doing fine in comparison. Appreciate the feedback guys...pics coming soon. -
Was hoping somebody could help me with a small dilemma. About 6-8 wks ago I got about a 60% germination rate with 20 obtusifolia seeds. So 12 seedlings where cruising along (very slowly) when I decided to transplant up about 2 wks ago, into bags. All of my A. maidenii (12 of, @ 80% germination) transplanted up fine & are powering along twice as fast as the obtusifolia's. Anyway about half of the obtusifolia's (6) have leaves browning & falling off. Most of these do have new growth coming on. They are well shaded, but did get a lil bit of afternoon sun about a week ago. Could this be the cause & if it is, should they recover or will they more than likely die? From what I've read the obtusifolia's seem to be quite sensitive. A couple of these seedlings are looking quite bare, with no signs of new leaf development. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks "space duck"

Ultimately there is only unity. The division lies in the perception of the beholder...duality is not real, it is a misperception (maya). I agree that it is chemical first, spiritual secondary ... & religion is nothing more than a man made concept for the ignorant, who fear consumes to much for them to feel safe on this journey.

It's sorta like the proverbial "Where can I get Salvia divinorum from?....It's illegal in Oz... Oh! I didn't realise." DAAAA... Effort...1st post & all

I think for a lot of "new agers" it's just their latest hobby...for others it seems to be an opportunity to make a dollar...but there are a few, who truly seek to find a greater understanding & connection to the whole. Every moment holds a nexus in it, with even more opportunities for the expansion of consciousness ever present. Whether the 2012 thing really will be impactual or not, I think will depend on the individuals ideals & beliefs...but then there's also the collective!

nice effort mutant...I'm very envious

We exist on a dualistic plane. Where the purpose is to experience solely, for the sake, of adding to the overall experience. There is no duality - the duality is in our perception. This is "The maya". Duality is the illusion. Our belief systems create our reality. If we believe in the duality, then that will become our reality. This is "The Lilla". What a fantastic game it is that we are playing...

Cactus found at local garden store
space cadet swami replied to Jonstn's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Euphorbia lactea cristata ? I bought a variegated form from a market bout a month ago. It's only bout 6" high & wide, I think I paid about $15 for it. I'm told the variegated grow slower, due to less ability to photosynthesise....so I was told. On second glance, it looks grafted... -
Shouldn't the issue really be about inciting more people to maybe explore the avenues of consciousness expansion...people that may have known nothing at all about ethno's prior to watching a mainstream movie as such, might now feel the urge to look into such plants & their endless possibilities... Just an opinion
