    Hello all!

I need some inspiration on what to plant in my veggie patch or in pots around the garden this spring and summer. I sadly have very little space :/

    What are you all planting?

rocket, coriander, parsley, all the super nibbles!

and I use super big pots! :)

growing zucchini or beans needs open garden soil.

  3. pic of one of my ephedra major.

    SAM_3514.thumb.JPG.b52f56c5b5238a1c4e443b75b54c7d8e.JPG

I have not yet read the whole thread, as I was absent, but just quickly here is some of my input.

sagi's post seems to apply to me that, given ephedra does not do well, in said climat.

I add that for example, that ephedra gerardiana, and ephedra nevadensis, don't survive my climat, but others thrive.

in short, THERE IS A RIGHT EPHEDRA, FOR ANY CLIMAT, apart from arctic, i'd say.

if you live in cold parts of Europa, for example, grow ephedra Helvetica and ephedra minima.

if it's dry and no tropical rains, try the desert ephedra, and so on, get my drift?

I think they are easy to grow, and require no care, just how I like it. they hate to be pampered, that's what kills them...

another thing they hate is, low drainage. for example ephedra major planted out in a non free draining position, grew faster and with more vigor, than the ones in free draining positions. but after 5 years being happy, the monsoonal rains killed them, the others survived.

    Thanks wc

Yeah we get pretty short days down here in Tasmania :)

Is the pollen of any use to anyone who has a female and no male? Will it store? Ill bag it up if anyone thinks they can use it

I was pondering regarding this as well, after posting here.

I remember, other members here reporting, there ephedras produced flowers.

dicko, because you inspired me to say as followes, I give you the first run, if you don't do it, I will start a thread regarding this. THE EPHEDRA CROSS POLLINATION TRIAL TOPIC. maybe the big ephedra thread has covered this topic, but I don't know as I was abscent and haven't read much of it.

maybe it's possible to x breed them, with amazing results. I AM EXCITED!! :)

most pollen stays viable for a few years if frozen.

    EDIT: dicko and readers!

this thread reminds me of something, that happened to me and changed my views regarding amateur sience. I once took a pic of a fossil, and uploaded it to a site.

I thought the fossil was crap, and the whole day looking for dino bones (which I didn't find that day) was wasted. but guess what, it lead to a break thru for the professional sienticts!! (this time around I give a shit about my dyslexia, I want search all those words like I used to) :)

  5. and if i'm not mistaken, for people residing on the moon, they experienced a total solar eclips.

hmm, I spice it up more. at times a total eclipse can make a comet visible, that otherwise you would not be able to see.

by heart, I only know of total solar eclips comets, but surly if a fast moving comet, would be glared out by a full moon, and than the moon darkens, it would make the comet visible...

  6. I researched the topic, and till a while ago I managed to delete them, using special setting with the ccleaner, but now I fail.

the searches revealed as well, software to easy detect and get rid of them, but the promised download site mostly did not give me what was promised. I managed to download one of those utileties, and it claimed to got rid of them, but looging onto google sites, they still recognized my pc...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_private_network

question, whats the downsides to vpn (maybe a pc that tries to protect itselfe get targeted more?)

and using vpn, might only stop you from getting a super cookie, but I already got several!

  7. I haven't played the dige much lately, I received too many don't like at youtube regarding this venture.

but the problem is as well, that I think there is a good chance, the troll, I picked up here at sab (topic don't post when intoxicated) subscribed to me and hits me with thumbs down with 2 or 3 accounts, once I upload a video.

i'm just a bit weary since the blanket laws came in place, but because you ask for it, I promise I will provide new pics & teks!

  8. binoculars come in an extreme wide range, from small to very big, the aperture going from 20mm to 150mm approximately.

the big ones get very heavy, and need a proper mount.

using the 7x42 let's say on andromeda, naturaly it doesn't compare with any photos of a big telescope, but seeing it for yourself very small and fuzzy is better than, a big image on a pic. hmm, probably you can't see andromeda from nsw, I forgot...

the night sky is mostly very good in oz, and if you can see the milky way, you can as well detect, many galaxies and starclusters, by naked eye. once spotted naked, I than get the binoculars in action. I tell you a trick, if a faint object, is in the middle of your field of view, they are harder to notice than, if you slightly look away. this was explained to me, happens because, our eyes are more light sensitive at phervicial(dyslexia) vision.

please don't mess with making a sun filter, it's far too dangerous, buy one, or project the image of the sun to a white piece of paper, to be save. astromoners are a friendly bunch, like gardeners, the love sharing info, and inspiring the next generation.

  9. a quick search, "ephedra male flower female" than clicked images, confirmed my thoughts, it's a male.

    edit:

congratulations that you got flowers! I don't grow gerardiana because, my location doesn't suit them (they hate extreme long heat) because they originate from high mountains. anyway your post almost confirms one of my suspiscions, EPHEDRAS NEED SHORT PHOTO PERIODES TO FLOWER.

none of my ephedras ever flowered, and I guess that's because of almost same day lengh over the year in the (semi) tropics.

  10. I am looking for a way to delete, my super cookies.

the problem I have with them apart that, they are spying on me, is that they have a very negative impact on my searches.

I like many different things, but flash cookies probably narrow my search enormously.

I have the understanding that, every site that gives a flash cookie (it seems most forums do so), can keep spying on you ever after, even you visited only once.

problem is, if after some porn, I want to do some serious research, only crap (closly related to porn) comes up.

for example because of porn cookies, youtube gives me, semi naked ladies, even if my search words don't have any relation to bikini girls.

please help, or are those cookies like bloody chromium, which was installed on my pc, because friend used my pc, to contact facebook.

They claim to have a 2 way exchange happening.  Something ive never seen with potato, apple peel ect which shrivels.  Maybe silica?  Its a liquid inside that apparently sets hard when its depleted. There are youtubes of people reactivating them.  Never tried, never depleted one either. Glass for storage (always), pop in after the drying process is pretty much over.  Good storage for years.

Would you like me to send one to you so you can tear open and analyse the goo inside?

i'm not smart enough to reverse engernir those sachets, but maybe somebody else here could, good thinking!

probably with, some research the internet would reveal, how to copy them, two way system makes sence though.

if I could buy it in the supermarket, I would use it, but internet shopping, strangely I find toostressful (there too often always something goes wrong).

in short, those sachets sound fantastic and easy to use.

I play a very expensive guitar, and never thought, this topic could, help me as well to care for this item perfectly.

sidetrack question: here on sab beforemy absence, we allways had many guest, but now I never saw any, why is that?

  12. thx for that, link humbolt!

now, ihave to find a way, to copy with basic means, what they are doing.

(sorry, the pc without me doing anything, now always, takes letters out when I move the curser backwards into the text, and I always forget, how do stop it, and i'm a xenophobe)

  13. I so much agree, but I can see in myself as well the "hanson effect", it's always easy to bitch about something, or say I would do it better, but in truth, one is delusional.

Dutton, who looks like wanting to push my button, just gives me shivers, looking at him.

put him in a leather jacket and he would make a good OUTLAW BIKIE, or HIGHWAY COP, both jobs are the same anyway, but only one of them can legally kill, hahaha.

I was just very worried, if peter would be pm, what the rest of the world would think of us as a nation.

scott did not stop the boats, HE CONTINUED STOPPING THE BOATS!

kevin rudd, started stopping the boats, and even with harsher measures than morrison, that's why the high courtruled his action illegal. kevin rudd is NOT A BULLY, but he introduced very tough measures, this means we don't need tough guys to "protect us", from the boat people.

  14. hi!

excited to know there are other stargazers here on sab.

my approach to astronomy, is very similar to how I do my gardening as well, meaning I do everything low cost.

I've never used filters, apart from a sun filter, so I can't help with your question.

what I use for nebulae is my binoculars 7x42 swarowski.

your mount is not parallactic, and you have no computer on the telescope to find, the object for you, so nebula are hard to find, by the traditional methode, of the star ladder.

I love the old school star ladder system, as it teaches you real skills, and after a while, you will find the objects, with ease, whilst, people using the computer system, never will know where the objects are located.

just to make you jellous, I have observed a 10.000 shooting stars per hour leonide storm, and have seen many comets,

    astronomy is an awesome hobby!

  15. I used to smoke a lot of tobacco (in Europa smoking is still in fashion), but I could never reach satisfaction with it, and my lungs said, please stop, so I did. when smoking a joint though, I still like to mix in, a tiny amount of the former.

when running out of store baccy, I added my home grown tobacco. it seemed to satisfy me far more, and I even used far less, than when using rollie baccy… now, I remember something similar happened when using tobacco, that had a native American on the package.

so what is realy going on here, I ask you?

as well, I had experiences with chop chop, but most of the time, and that even from different sources, the product was inferior, often even smelling awfull. some rumors say, commercial baccy has been treated with chemicals to make them more addictive! I don't know, but it certainly gets treated with chemicals that ought to make it, burn more evenly...

I guess the way, tobacco is cured, is similar to curing other herbs, even if they get absorbed other ways than smoking.

the nutshell: harvest leaves, dry as slowly as possible, without light (green tea is an exemption).

when almost dry seal herb into a container, or plastic bag, so the herb stays soft.

if too dry already, add moisture in form of water, to the sealed space, checking the contents once a day.

after 2-3 days, the once crumbly, harsh and too fast burning herb will be soft and moist again, and now provide a quality smoke.

the water can be added, by using a fine mister, directly onto the tobacco, or like with a humidor, in a small container which is contained inside the humidor.

what is your drift regarding curing?

Abbott is quite a potent wrecker as opposition leader so his faction will back him, and they'll play the whole 'stop the boats' BS all over again ad nauseum.

That evil cuntzs as slippery as a turd swimming in olive oil :wave-finger:

    regarding, "stopping the boats".

you know how, the pollies new fashion is to say,"false news"? but in reality, the politicians create the false news, and not the journalists. in our time, with all the new technologies, the "rulers" find it much, much harder to manipulate us regarding the truth.

scott morrison is the new, tough guy, even Michael said this morning in the abc news, he stopped the boats.

but to my knowledge, he is not speacking the truth. all they did is,  TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL, TO TALK ABOUT BOAT ARRIVALS!!! if you see a boat, and tell the news people, YOU COULD GO TO JAIL!

SCOTT MORRISON = FALSE NEWS SPREADDER.

I vote mostly green, but some people of the coalition I find, would be excellent pm's and I even like them a bit (tim Wilson, Cristopher pyne, and so on) but in this paranoid political climat, only the "TOUGH PEOPLE" LIKE PETER OR SCOTT" ARE GIVEN A CHANCE.

DO WE REALY NEED BULLIES TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY??

pls explain, "made all bans temporary".

does, that mean I could rescue my "planthelper account"?

as well, you said planthelper got a 4 week ban only, but I tried many, many times to log on as planthelper and it never worked.

  18. when I destroyed my acacias, I could not help but to notice, the distinctive fragrance of some of them.

my question, to you who else can tell, just by the smell?

if more people say, yep I can smell it as well, than we could say, we do this like other people taste fine wine, from not so good wine...
