fence it and get goats there will be no grass or possibly trees in a fortnight.. there is a good market for goats meat milk and wool and they are pretty much indestructible. if you go meat make sure to spend a few dollars on good boar goat genetics.

Looking good WB Ceres I add molasses to the water when I foliar spray or when I water, about 100ml to a 20 litre bucket or a tbls spoon to 3 or 4 litres of foliar spray. Is good stuff.

That is looking awesome, vine looks healthy, is that shape from what they call "Dill Ring"? I think really heavy ones sometimes get it. That's going to go heavier then mine you got about another 20 days of growing in that maybe more due to the cool climate factor. How much water you hitting it with? I was feeding mine 100 litres a day at its peak.
-
that is going to get very large very quickly.
-
they are really long, watch the short stem on that one make sure to allow the vine to lift as the pumpkin gets big, they can snap themselves from the vine sometimes.
-
how many days is that WB have you tapped it? seen the OTT calculator on this site? Looking good, long and heavy. http://www.giant-pumpkin-genetics.org/

-
Hey WB have you tried growing giant Kohlrabi? I'm keen to give them a run, but I reckon your climate would be the best for them.

check out some of MSmith and Truchas threads. I tend to agree that they are all part of a greater species merely cultivars potentially created through ancient cultural/ religous uses. Lots of info out there and I think there really never will be a right or wrong answer. -
that's weird Ceres have you got a pic? The genetics of these big lumps is such a mess it doesn't surprise me though.
-
wouldn't say no mate, silica is the shiz I have been using it to spray my sunflowers and the new pumpkin. Is it expensive? I am happy to buy it off you if that works better for you?
-
I'm turning the pumpkin into soup and scones at work for OZHarvest Brisbane. Its on display at my work at the moment, we are running a comp to guess how many seeds to raise money for our local PCYC community gardens. So going to good use which makes me happy about putting so much effort into the big useless orange thing lol.

I work in hospitality, its high pressure low skilled industry so a lot of the time someone not necessarily up to the task is left to deal with a bad situation.. the general public are unlikable at best, tempers fray and people get nasty this has a knock on effect on staff hierarchy. I just roll along these days otherwise you won't sleep at night or you might have a stroke.

No rot either is in perfect nick, had the vine gone a bit harder this could have been a really big pumpkin. Will have heaps of seed for everyone next year.
-
On a pallet ready to go on display estimated at 270kg but I reckon it will go light as the vine died off early say around 230 to 250kg.
-
chain of hearts of something similar
-
We have a crest that we just rotted lol. Its healing up again and will survive, I think I might try and graft it. I'll get some photos soon.
-
I'll have to bring in a scaffolding crew I think I lake the required skills...That's an awesome set up. What we need is some good genetics to start with.
-
