  1. This is a very interesting thread. MHRB is used in Mexico as a medication for burns and other skin problems. I believe it is recognized officially and registered in the Mexican pharmacopia inventory. I wonder if it is the DMT that is the active component in such instances?

  2. Synesthesia. I'm sure it's mostly pretty well known what it is. But basically, your sensory perception merges together. Hearing colours, seeing sounds, tasting emotions, etc.

Is anyone here a synesthete - if so, how does it feel? Has anyone artificially achieved synesthesia - and if you did, how would you suggest a hypothetical person go about trying to achieve it as well (mindset, 'tools', etc)?

    :)

Back in the 70s I experienced synesthesia often when peaking on the acid of the time, and it seemed to be dosage related. The higher the dose ,the more profound and bizzare the effects. Curiously, I never experienced it with mushrooms.

  3. How do trichs like tropical climates? or do they prefer to have a winter?

They grow REALLY fast in the tropics but very prone to rot in the wet season. I have had to resort to a sistemic fungicide at times. Once I built a shelter with a plastic roof that was really good -the stuff was called "Sarlon Solargrow", and it also reduced sunburn. Reccomended.

  4. i am a little worried about two of my lophs.

Two seed grown lophs about 4 cm across are going soft and wrinkling at the fold where the tap-root meets the button ( wrong terminology i know ) The affected area seems to be turning grey but the rest above seems very firm and healthy.

Its growing indoors under hps lamps. The lws are a good 1.5 metres from them. My temps are ranging between 16 and 30 degrees. Medium is 50 percent coarse sand, fourty percent premium cacti mix and a bit of perlite. I have been watering every four to five days. I wait for the medium to dry out completely before the next water. Im using quarter strength nutrient ( high quality hydroponic flowering nutrient and a little rhizotonic ) I have quite a few and the rest all seem to be powering along and looking very healthy !

Anyway i have the feeling it may be the start of rot. So my question is do i chop and graft asap or am i freaking over nothing ?

Tried utfse but couldnt quite find an answer.

It might be overfeeding. Too much N can cause them to become rubbery. If so they can be saved by repotting, or maybe by flushing the soil with fresh water.

  5. Cheers for the tips :) yeah im planning on getting them outside asap was just gonna wait till the last of winter has gotten its sillies out ;)

atm they are sitting in a seedling box i got off a friend:

Would it be ok the chuck them outside now you think? next week is looking pretty grim weather wise but if it'll benefit the plants then ill do it :)

I got a mate who is keen to get a whole variety of plants on the go so ill be taking most of them up there probably, ill just have a few in some big pots doing their thing outside until i can put them in the ground.

Thanks again for the tips, ill update when there's something to see :)

good advice gerbil, obtuse and others. growing indoors will result in massive u.v shock when taken outside. they should be fine outdoors- beware of killing them with kindness. regards tom

  6. Hello,

I live in Oregon so Banisteriopsis caapi wood is legal here. Does anyone have any nice old b. caapi wood they can sell me? I am looking for some nice

Psychotria viridis leaves too. I don't want huge wood, but wood that can be made into tea, and I don't want thin wood either, I am looking for regular

color wood only. If you could sell this to me, it would really be appreciated. Thanks.

    Jamison

Why do you want to import it incurring all the quarantine drama; surely it must be easier to buy at home in USA ?

  7. besides acuminata and floribunda ( which have sold like hot-cakes )does anyone have any info on wether or not any of these other species may be of interest ?

Hi Tipz. I am no expert, but suspect that all wattles of the Juliflorae section of the acacia genus should be phytochemically assayed. Perhaps somebody knowledgeable in this field can advise? regards, Tom.

  8. You might specify what cactus, the conditions vary quite a bit.

For example people say lophs just need water, ferts, light, and warmth and they flower all year.. I have a Mammallaria that acts that way; Echinocereus spp. are said to need winters followed by a spring & summer with good UV light exposure (ie outdoors); Pediocactus and similar need to freeze solid first; and no one seems to know whats needed to make trichs flower  tho some guess no root disturbance and always having the same side facing north helps.

    See, pretty diverse.

Hi Auxin. I think you are right about lophs and trichs; I have little experience with others. I live in the tropics at lat26 and previously in Darwin[lat14], and have never seen a trich flower despite having some large specimens. I used to think it it was because I was forced to grow in pots isolated from the ground due to termites which attack live plants. They seem to love the woody core of trichs, and serious damage can be done before one realises something is wrong. I have since relocated and still growing in pots because a different termite here also attacks some plants [e.g hemp]that has light white wood inside. They really seem to be attracted to some species and ignore others. I really hate the little bastards. regards, Tom.

  9. Hi Major Tom, and welcome to the forums. Are you referring to the Attorney-General's proposed plant schedules? There are a couple of threads here discussing this at length. If not, do you have specific information about the proposed prohibition you are talking about? Links etc.?

    Yes,the proposed plant schedules.

  10. It appears that the Federal govt is determined to create the so called "nanny state" for Oz. This is part of an on-going process that erodes the civil rights of citizens. I presume they are in a panic mode, freaking out suspecting that cottage industries will evolve extracting illicit substances. Although these new laws will be largely unenforcable, they will neverthelss be bad news for anumber of reasons including both our civil liberties and the environment.e.g. to restict a person of the right to grow thier own wattle can only lead to the increased unsustainable exploitation of the already devastated Australian bush. Furthermore, these idiots have failed to realise that ethnobotany is potentially the best weapon possible with which to combt the illicit drug menace. I am a parent and would much prefer my kid to chew qat than inject speed or drink poppy tea than use smack, to give acouple of examples. I am interested in what other forum members think about the new laws and what we can do to prevent them from becoming reality.
