PD. Posted November 30, 2009 I have been asked over and over if i caould explain what these hybrids are or do i have pictures of them so here they all are in one thread. They are only named this way in my collection so i have some memory of where and who they came from and also because i havent seen or been able to get plants like this from anywhere else. All the owner has been able to tell me is they are just hybrids, not a great deal of help although he has awesome plants so i dont mind *Note* These plants are grown in two or three different locations with completely different conditions in each. Chiral Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) J1 is kick ass, has a really mean evil vibe to it's looks. J2 is meh...although I see some knuthianus in them a bit. J3 is very nice some of the clumps have Roseii qualities to them. Edited November 30, 2009 by Chiral

ENtiTY Posted November 30, 2009 I have been wondering what these J cacti I have been seeing references to were. J1 is the pic of the bunch for me. Still not really sure why they have gotten the attention they have though. Thanx for the pics PD.
PD. Posted November 30, 2009 Still not really sure why they have gotten the attention they have though. i guess J3 has gotten a bit but that would be due to me using it in alot of crosses and i have crossed J1 with pachanoi which i have been selling of late. I cant see how they have gotten much attention as hardly anyone here has the clones.
hebrew Posted November 30, 2009 yeah they are nice plants for sure, i recall seeing them earlier this year with you PD and was keen on getting cuts but the owner was not keen on letting them go ay, same with that big arse peruvi thing. which i have ended up getting a cut of i think (according to that sexy woman marsha.) but yeah nice plants and am glad you have done those crosses as it means we can all bring a little jim into out homes. for me J1 has the features i like in a cactus at the moment. nice photos thanks
paradox Posted November 30, 2009 J2 looks to my eye like somewhat of a knuthianus X bridgesii... the overall form gives me the impression of a really fat bridgesii with a good hint of the rib indentation of knuthianus but a slight rosei characteristic. anyone else see it that way? By attention I simply mean that I have observed reference to the JX cacti on more than 1 off forum site in a relatively short period of time is all. Just makes one wonder if my repeatedly stumbling across Jx cacti on my travels is simply a coinky dink or something more... Superstition is completely out of character for me Still it play's on my mind non-the less.
flora Posted December 1, 2009 J1 has such a nice shape to the tip, i like the symmetry and you can tell it is very fat. quite unique, i wonder what genetics it gets those spines from. this needs to be propagated! and then the last pic in the J3 series ... its perty , those spines are very neat thanks PD actually i assumed you had already posted pix but i the search engine wont accept terms with < 3 characters
Mitosis Posted January 15, 2012 Good reference pics, thanks for posting them PD. I just got a couple "Super Pedro" x J3 seedlings and its nice to see the father of the cross
cactifacti Posted March 8, 2012 i just got a psycho0xJ2 hybrid what do you guys think of a combintion such as this?
PD. Posted March 8, 2012 For some reason in the crosses of psycho0 and j2, both ways, the J2 characteristics seemed to be rather dominant which to me is strange as generally psycho0 genes display more prominent in most crosses regardless of it being mother or father. That is in my experience though and only with the small numbers of plants i have grown to any size to speak of from this particular cross. That said, J2 can show a great deal of variation in its appearance from plant to plant, moreso than other trichos, even plants grown in close proximity can look very different from one another a slight difference in sun/light exposure is all it takes. Im talkn cuttings/plants that are growing within 2ft of each other, same soil, same everything except one gets shade a lil earlier in the day, not much earlier but obviously enough to alter the appearance from the other plant. I cut them back rather hard this season though so it will be interesting if the difference continues to show or if the traits were from previous growing conditions which went unchanged when moved. I think i know who you got the plant from, he should have a lot more different hybrids from the aussie clones soon if i get my arse into gear Wanna pm me a pic? Interested to see how your plant looks.
